Have you driven one or an F150 with 3.5 turbo? It might make you think differently. I still bought the Tacoma so you know where my loyalties lie though.

OVTune is probably what you want.

You can have power at the cost of shorter wear and worst MPG by boosting intake with super/turbo charging an engine. You can have longer engine life and better MPG by keeping it normally aspirated. You can't have both. One friend of mine has an F150's with the 3.5 twin turbo ecoboost and it rips. Very impressive. He buys a new F150 every 3 years when it starts needing a little engine/tranny maintenance. He has more money than God and so off to the dealership he goes to turn in his 80% depreciated F150. I choose to keep my 9 year old taco which never has issues and just keeps purring. Vehicle purchases are about the worst financial item you can buy next to $100 christmas tree who's value goes to $0 in 1 month. Unfortunately we need them and so we do the best we can to balance the stupid financial purchase. We (including myself) let emotion decide to buy a new vehicle vs. practicality and financial intelligence.

can't speak about reality of having big tires. i run E's but still in 265/65-17.

i did a full custom exhaust with rear cat removal and it flows as an open exhaust. and i am currently on the OV 93oct full Otto tune, and after 2 years of trying, i finally got the truck to launch from first with strength. I'd say that magic comes from the tune, exhaust, and having an MT. without those not sure there's anything yet. doubt that would happen in a AT. not sure though.

Most chips are empty calories and will make you gain weight

More weight = worse power to weight ratio

Please link us to 'headers' and a supercharger for a 3rd gen.

Lets not fret over the $/HP value of an exhaust or K&N. Let's just agree to call it very high. Very.

The only s/c for 3rd gens is for the 2.7L. URD makes it

Silly me. I thought the OP had a v6 that was being bantered about. No?

Of course the 2.7 has an S/C available. Header too. But it's not a 3rd gen engine. It's just in a 3rd gen body. :D

I think he does have a v6 unless you can now get the off road in a 4 banger (which would be badass). I was simply stating a fact..

I have to disagree about turbos, every diesel engine in the world has at least one turbo and with diesels just keep the air filter and fuel filters changed along with normal maintenance be and they last forever. I owned a few and maintained a fleet of trucks.

Is there anyone that wants to actually keep there truck stock anymore?? I know it's always fun to dump money into a truck to make it what you want, but leave the damn thing alone or buy a truck with a more ponies. Trust me. Your engine will last longer if you treat it nicely, leave it alone, and change the oil/Sparks when it needs it.
