new lift suggestions

i have an 08 taco db lb and i want to lift it. what option would be the best option. trying to keep cost down. thanks

option 1. do rear tsb leaf spring at toyota and bilstien 5100's adj in front. and set at 2.5 inch. cost is $160 for parts.

or

option 2. do rear tsb at toyota get 1 inch blocks for the rear and billy 5100 adj in the front and set to 2.5? cost is $250 for parts.

 

dont do blocks in the rear..........the ride will definitely suffer. go with the rear leaf tsb, then billy 5100's set at 1.75........ride should be good and pretty close to level, especially after the rear settles a bit.

 

i kinda wanted to do the 2.5 inch lift. 1.75 to level sounds good. if i wanted to do 2.5 in the front what would be good in back with the leaf springs tsb?

 

How will rear blocks make the ride suffer.

 

with rear blocks, they can cause alot of axle wrap, and blocks are also known to break, so to me...definitely not worth running blocks. i'd much rather run aal's.

 

an aal should do the trick for you(add a leaf).

 

Does the TSB change the ride height in the front? Or just the rear?? I plane to get my done next week and I am hoping they will install spacer that I supply.. Adding the spacers should only add about 30 mnutes to the job and I am willing to pay for that...Thought? Comments???

 

the tsb only changes height in the rear. what kinda spacers are you adding??

 

I havent decided on the spacers, I am leaning towards welded steel vs aluminum, any suggestions? I have seen some on Ebay for around $70 that look fairly well made...

 

either/or really, but i'd probably go with the steel ones.

 

Thanks for the suggestions, now I will see what the dealer says about non OEM parts being installed during the TSB. From my perspective it's an easy way to charge an hours labor for an otherwise "free" job. I will let you all know how it goes...

Sorry...but I could not be more impressed with my rear blocks. I've got PRO COMP 2.5" front spacers, 2" rear blocks and LOVE IT. I think that a lot if people tend to get too invoived with the "serious of-road" world and spend more money than is needed. If your just an average driver looking for some additional clearance...don't worry about it. You are not going to notice a difference between any of the BASIC lifts. If your a SERIOUS 4x4'R...you would be looking on the Crawler forums and be happy to spend THOUSANDS on your rig. Lift it and you will be happy.

AMEN Brother !!! SongDog you hit the nail on the head. I feel the same way. I think alot of people on here get alot of costly advice ( sometimes) it all depends on what you are doing with the truck............

 

so final question is that im not going off roading. just want to lift my truck. im going with billys 5100 in the front and adjusting them to 2.5. rear blocks at 1 inch with tsb leaf. everything else stock. do you guys see anything wrong with that setup?

 

nope....i build golf carts.

as far as my comment about blocks....if you like them,cool. i have known blocks to cause axle wrap, so i always suggest going with aal's in the rear over blocks. pure suggestion/ pure opinion.

 

if that is the setup you want to run, it should work pretty well.
