    I have always liked the idea behind this, but the hand lever they use is HUGE!

    Is more expensive now. Ouch. Still cheaper than a new actuator and not that much worse than the cheaper lunch box alternative.

    Lever is big. But you could change that yourself I'm sure

    Personally I always thought about setting up one of those with a ebrake foot pedal.

    Yeaaaaa convert it to cable and swap a 4R center console in and use its ebrake handle.

    That’s where the ebrake is in those right?

    Do you have a manual trans? If you do then the lunchbox lockers can be very squirrelly on the street...they can be squirrelly with an auto too but tend to be less likely so. By squirrelly I mean locking up on you when you dont want them to especially in inclement weather. Some people love them others don't, but since you have another daily driver it might not be a bad idea.
    But I'd take a working elocker any day, if you know for sure what would fix the elocker I would go that route personally (having had a lunchbox locker in the past). Worked great as far as being a locker goes but I didn't care for its manners on the street.

    I second this, I had a Jeep TJ with a lunchbox in the front and a Detroit in the rear. Sometimes that thing would go where it wanted to, especially when accelerating around a street corner. I got used to it and learned when and when not to apply throttle. I lost the rear driveline once and had to drive across Phoenix on the freeway in front wheel drive, I thought I was going to die. But you talk about doing burnouts!!!

    You locker is an Aisin SAT-008. Google that and you'll find em. If you wait for RockAuto to resupply then you'll get the lowest price but as is you can find the SAT-008 from others for around 360 right now. Amazon is a poor example for this for some reason

    These are the reasons I upgraded. I daily drove with it on my manual for about 4 years. It’s not awful, but not ideal either. Super easy to Install, there is no resetting of backlash required

    Yeah when I put mine in I was 19 yrs old with no experience working on cars at all, lol. Friend helped me but we knocked it out in an afternoon and hit up the local OHV park right after. If memory serves, I got stuck almost right away because in the end...it was still a Prerunner

    It did make it a lot more capable though than it was before, I'll give it that

    They can get you in trouble, snow and ice is where I had issues with it, it was pretty much required that I use 4x4 on even lightly snowy roads to maintain control

    I spent all of last summer in Monrovia for work, I liked it

    You can refill the 1lb bottles from a 20lb tank. My plan if I ever decide to fill my 20lb tank...

    I often run into my tank freezing so having more than one 1lb tank on hand is nice. Not sure if I'd want to rely on only having a single source.

    I went through the D style bushing with my old rack in a few thousand miles. I'm hoping it's because the rack was pitted under the bushing. I contemplating welding two flanges to the housing to keep the movement to a minimum. We'll see if the new rack and bushings holds up better.

    You can get an adapter to use propane. I like these stoves because they're built like a tank.

    If you're on a trail with camber and mud/snow your ass end is going to want to follow the fall line. I'd prefer an auto locker in the front with the ability to control the ADD. If you're worried about reliability, converting to cable is about as simple as it gets. I'm sure you could also find an actuator at a junkyard for cheap also.
