At work today I started a statistics course that is taught internally and taylored to the way our company leverages statistics. So far it’s understanding how to leverage .jmp

We took a peek at the formulas used to reach different analytical values, but was told immediately after that the mathematical leg work wasn’t necessary because .jmp can do it for you. “Don’t bother wasting your (and the company’s) time with the math when we can get what we need with this statistical tool on your laptop.”

Mines engineering analysis and statistics. Day one today so we’ll see how it goes. I’m trying to check all the boxes, retain the important stuff, get the piece of paper and make the money.

I tested into mat142. Missed precalc by 2pts and I already took Calc 1 in high school. You forget a lot after 9yrs being out of school.

I'm at ASU. Also taking engineering stats, IEE-380. It's not that the class is bad, I just don't find it interesting as I learned many years ago, you can manipulate the data to prove anything you to. I have limited faith in statisticians. Its one of those using knowledge for good type things.

Rebuilding which for a trophy truck for the last 3 days. Cool side gig and pays good.

If anyone needs shock rebuilds, I’m thinking about doing them on the side side.

Are you becoming one with the dark art of shocks?

Rebuilding is one thing. Tuning is the dark art.

When I was riding sportbikes, I took a few advanced rider classes and one was on shocks. It was the week following that class I hired someone to tune my whole suspension and that bike was never better. That was a one and done rather than tear it apart time and again including devoting time to testing

We had guys all the time coming in for big power upgrades on stock suspension. They hardly ever listened, and probably 15% of the time came back with wrecked bikes.

Tuning trucks is a little different though, and easier. A bike has some much rider input that if you don’t really know your rider and know he is going to take the same turn exactly the same way every time, then watching him is pointless. A truck if you throw 200 or so lbs around when the truck weighs 4K won’t make nearly the difference that a rider can when he weighs nearly as much as the bike.

    This is a smart move.

I was trying to get my COs rebuilt when I got back from Moab. One was blown and our beloved tacorunner is busy AF all the time. SDHQ was weeks out and I was given another guys name that does them on the side. He wasn't to excited to take on a job either.

FORTUNATELY Jason came to the shop after working all day in Tucson, rebuilds them and then goes to help Josh.... Damn machine

The point if this story besides Jason being awesome is that we could use another trustworthy person to do this job.

    Questions:
Do you have a nitrogen tank?
What kind of prices are you thinking if kits and oil are supplied?
If I had a set of shocks on the bench at Avid would you come rebuild, take payment and leave?

Again, smart move and honestly if you can make that Tundra into a rebuild truck and be mobile, you'll make a fucking killing.

Yup, I have all the tools or have easy access to a couple that I don’t own at the moment.

    Nitrogen tank
    Zero loss chuck
    Spring compressor
    Shaft clamps
    Body clamps
    Etc.

Haven’t thought about prices too much yet. Plan would be to be less than SDHQ. As far as mobile service, I had not thought about that but that’s a decent idea. Trick is that it’s nice to have 2 vices and that’s hard to do with a truck. More than likely right now I would just charge a small fee to pick up a pair of loose shocks and then return them when done if that helps people out who don’t have a second vehicle. Scheduled out right I could probably even do some single day turn arounds for guys who don’t have a second vehicle.

Just wanted to throw it out there for you all. Need to figure some things out but reguardless I can knock some out for you guys.

Just with the amount of IVD on 3rd gens out there you'll be slammed. I saw a set on the rear of a 2016 that we're solid covered in oil and dirt.

This could be huge if your name carries over to 3g and the other forums.

    Good luck.
