Not bad. DO you know the sound or WWII radials overhead?
And people that have the magnaflow say its just droning inside.
I want a "burble" I can hear, a sound like that for people when I leave, and then not much more!

Yes and I love it. We have a WWI fighter that flies at least once a week at Stinson. I see and hear B17's and B25's a few times a year. I've even seen/heard Doc and Fifi, the legendary B29's. The Mitchell's are my favorite. In a past life I flew one on the Dolittle Raid.

I realize FB is the devil for a lot of folks. This plane is base 20 miles from home, along with several others. They fly over most every beautiful Sat or Sunday when the clouds are gone. 1000 feet tops. Radials blasting in the wind. They fly over the home, I know the sound, I get wing waves and fly overs in multiple formations. I just wave like a fool, and then salute. To me, you are one of them. :hattip:

That's pretty damn cool. Am jealous. I love seeing old iron still flying.

This is THE Glacier Girl - if you don't know the story it's amazing.

Those are the original props too. In the pictures of it buried under the ice, they're bent. One of the guys that pulled her up said he was spraying her down with a hot water pressure washer and the prop started making this loud popping sound and it straightened out right in front of him.

25 Seconds Over Tokyo. Had that book, bought it in elementary school. Along with a beat up copy of Eddie Rickenbackers "Fighting the Flying Circus".
The last survivor of the Doolittle raid was just here in San Marcos, and honored. Naturally, FB won't give me the post of a name I almost remember when not drinking.
I swear in a past life, I was in a B-25 over Germany. Couldn't' have been my dad, he was Army and never talked of it. When I met my wife, found out her dad was a B-17 Bombardier, but didn't know that until long after my "dreams"..... Life is freaking weird!

I ordered a "That's All Brother" and "Yellow Rose" B-25 patch for the truck. I'll let my wife give them to me for my BDay.

P39 in an Alaskan glacier if I recall. Lost from that odd Japan invasion of the Alaskan outboard islands?

Buried beneath sheet ice in Greenland for 50 years. She had something like 300 tons of ice over every inch.

OK different one. Early on, almost all of those went to the Pacific. But memory sorta kicking in on her. Those were all great birds. We built some of the most fantastic machines in WWII. God, to think that the P51 kept German jets grounded is just amazing.

Holy B17 Batman, I just realized what time it is! We will surely have to get together at one of our little museums, and take a tour, and indulge a litte before you decide to serve again! Very few people ever comment when I bring up these old war birds, and it just seems not that far removed from truck mods you know? G'night my friend!

They were flying 26 planes to Europe for the war effort but got lost in bad weather. They landed on the glacier in Greenland but we were unable to recover them.

This was the last picture of her before she was buried for half a century.

    96254D2E-634D-4BDA-AC96-CCF4C9290D9D.jpg

Actually it was because of that picture the team pursued that aircraft. The pilot had the presence of mind to shut down the engines, feather the props, and keep the gear retracted when he landed.

She's here in San Antonio in a private hangar at International.
