Can anyone tell me (up to) what size tire can fit in the spare slot under the truck? Trying to make plans, need to know if I should look into adding a tire carrier

Haha yes it is. Thats the Man Cave right there. So when the garage is popped open the screen door is there to let cool breeze in well keeping any bugs or debris from entering.

There is a spare tire mount mod where you remove the mount and drill new holes to move it back towards the rear bumper. That lets you go bigger than 265/70/17. On my truck the restriction is the exhaust path to the tail pipe. Others have cut the exhaust after it drops over the rear axle. The largest I recall seeing was 275/70/17. I cannot see that fitting without modding something.

I just stuffed a 285/75 r16 under there, but I had to pry the exhaust hangers to move the pipe out of the way. I made about an inch of clearance between the tire and the heat shield. It’s been in the 60s here and the tire isn’t even warm after a long drive. We’ll see how what happens as the summer approaches if I have to make additional mods. It also only contacts the frame on two spots by each of the leaf spring shackle mounts. I’m gonna figure something out to get som additional contact area for it to snug up to.

I’ll have to find this thread, thanks

Damn and you were on a roll helping me out too lol. I’m already set on the beat sonic kit now but with that new anytime switch :frusty:
There has to be a way to get these 2 to work, I’m sure someone more capable can doodle a diagram in their sleep. Hopefully someone can chime in (might have to post in the anytime thread) and I’m still waiting to hear back from beat sonic too

Didn’t do anything TO it per se, but I did a couple things for it today. M/T accumulator delete mod from user @Trident904 arrived today. Not sure when I’ll have time to install, but it’s on the short list.

Also ordered a set of Clazzios in the Pro design, Black with red stitch only on the double stitches. Also adding heat to both fronts when the covers arrive. Most likely eight very long weeks.

Ok, so I finally figured out a shift knob/boot solution that gives me the exact look and feel I was looking for.

Initially I used a wake rope float and it was decent, but lacking the finished quality I was seeking:
    3107FFED-01DF-4686-82FE-0830AB6B09FA.jpg

Feeling inspired by the many folks here who have used grommets to atleast give the collar a finished look, I was going for a high and tight fit.
So I went to Home Depot and bought the 3 largest sizes they offer 1/2, 5/8 & 3/4.
    838D575D-05BA-4F3F-B440-43F0802D2BE6.jpg

After messing around with them in different configurations, I soon realized that the 1/2 slides perfectly past the collar and stops firmly at the bulge.
Then I figured, why not push the 5/8 through the collar so that it rests on top of the 1/2.
Coincidentally the 3/4 fits perfectly inside of the collar and even locks into the 3 notches/lip used to hold the boot onto the oem knob.
    204F6C5D-FACC-4AF5-AE37-E5452EEB7D37.jpg

Between the 3 grommets, the boot is now held high and firmly to the bottom of the shifter threads.
And after spinning the knob on, I realized I had the perfect fit.
    678888DF-32CF-492C-830B-3CDCE4078918.jpg 9ABA68FA-5C0E-451A-88DC-9EE2BEE3306C.jpg 5DD997CD-626A-46C2-AF00-A0C9EDCD40C0.jpg

From every angle it is firm and held high and tight.
And the beauty of the grommets is that is allows for just enough flex so that the collar can float as necessary when the boot becomes taught at extreme angles!

    Loving it and highly recommend.
