Ask any vets you know about stories of similar mishaps when in MOUT and using glass over muzzle. Designated marksman kept firing and nothing was hitting the target or anything near it. Kept reconfirming proper target and even painting with IR and still kept missing. Turned out that he was shooting the wall directly in front of his muzzle.

Yep. was sitting in my living room floor striping the bolt down from one of my AR's. After I finished I put 5 rounds in a mag, and racked them out to make sure the extractor was cool. Five rounds in and five rounds out.

Everything was most well, so I put the mat up I was working on, and went back to pick the AR up off the floor. When I picked it up, my dumb ass got a hold of the trigger.

Needless to say there was one mystery round still chambered. I don't know how many of y'all have heard / shot a 5.56 outside, but let me tell you they are unreal loud shot inside a 25x16 foot room thru a 10.5" SBR AR.

It was near as magical a bullet as the JFK one. It went under the couch then into the floor, hit the concrete slab, then ricocheted off the floor and into the wall behind the couch about 5" above the floor. Never touched the couch at all. I held my breath when I looked outside to see if it had exited the block wall. It didn't.

I shot my first gun at 6 years old, got my first one at 8 years old. I'm 61 and this was my first dumb ass negligent discharge.

 

Wait till someone dumps a whole 249 pork chop past the doorway you are in. My left ear still rings to this day.

 

Ok. My Googlefu didn't bring anything up. What caliber is a 249 pork chop?

 

Same, 5.56 linked but can take box mag. And the “pork chop” and “nut sack” were just boxes to feed the weapon.

 

I've never been in a combat situation, but couldn't imagine the sound of a squad of weapons all going off at the same time.

Or the ones shooting back!

 

Ah. I didn't realize you had converted it to Freedom units.

 

lucky you didnt get hurt or some one/thing else. I almost pulled the trigger on my 303 british, when I lived in an apartment...that thing would have went through the first floor easy. Now I just tell myself they are all loaded till I check, and double check then point in a safe direction.
