I have noticed that it looks like Toyota has installed a new microphone or something above the driver in the 2019 year models. I have specifically seen this in the trucks with the sunroof. I suppose it is a microphone as people are constantly telling me they can't hear me well in my 2018.

If someone has an explanation for what it is, let us know.

I’ve never had any issues in my 17. I use it all the time and everyone has said it sounds great.

Not sure where the mic is in my 2018, but no one has mentioned any issue when I’m using it...

Thats odd, both my 17s (one without prem/tech and one with) didn't have it.

On my 2018, people were surprised when I'd tell them I was driving while talking to them. I'm not sure where the mic was on that one. The 2019 is even better with the mic right there above your head. No need to crane your neck to direct your voice towards it. It seems to pick up conversations very well while filtering out surrounding noise.

Yep. Moved from a 4x2 Sport to a 4x4 OR for just a little more than the difference in cost between 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive and the 2018 to 2019 premium. Same tech and all. The dealer even removed/switched the TRD skid plate, TRD cat back, TRD CAI and Homelink mirror from the 2018 (things I had put on) and installed them on the 2019 for $400. I'm happy with the deal.

Oh that makes sense, lol. Was like what and what since there were no big changes from 18 to 19 besides mic, bed pocket, etc.

I have Entune Prem Tech no sunroof and my microphone is between the 2 overhead map lights (couple of slots in the plastic). I actually have people tell me they can hear me pretty well.

It is a gummit listening device. They want you to believe it is a microphone. :D
