Thanks for the response. I might check it out but I don't want to be that jackass who ruins it. I'll leave that to the others :anonymous:

up for it. Depends though as a west coast trip may be happening. I have the "Northshore" route from the Ontario overland group.

The group on “Ontario overland” did a route called the north shore Route which they made via the backroad map books if I remember correctly.

    where abouts in Toronto?

and as @Ttaco15 said you gotta drive a bit for the good stuff.
We've done Minden as day runs before not really much of an issue. there's trails around bobcaygen as well that you could do as a day run.

as long as we, or more so I, can stop and put some paddling in. Or you guys could rent or bring your own and join in?

Legit just want to do some paddling up there, some gorgeous waters to explore.

Yeah a kayak is on my list this winter. There is always water where we go off-roading so it makes sense and something to do while “camping”.

I’m remaking my bed rack for my truck and have this in mind kind of.
No rtt ever for me and I want a Prerunner/adventure vehicle so it’s going to be very minimal and steel/aluminum

i'm considering getting a second one haha.

the one I have is more for portaging and camping, its ultra light at 26lbs, but given the weight its made from kevlar and carbon fibre, you can probably guess where this is going, they are no where close to cheap boats. $3000+ tax normally. Mine was $2400+tax. In no way a cheap kayak/canoe and definitely not something I want to be bringing down tight trails having trees continually smack it.

That and its 13.6ft long. Its rather big, again meant for portaging and camping.
Can get decent roto moulded ones for $800-$1600 can even find some of them used for $500-$800 sometimes. I'm considering getting one of those for bringing camping with us on these trips. They are smaller and not as expensive as my Swift so I wouldn't be as concerned with it. I'd likely go the used route obviously. Plus been wanting to get one for teh girlfriend so she has something to come paddling with me.

The pelican ones from Canadian tire you always see are whatever. I used to rent them all the time, they aren't that stable and I personally would rather spend a little more to get something thats more stable.

They actually make a bunch of different types of kayaks where I work, take a look :cookiemonster:

The clear bottoms ones get sold to resorts all over the world. Mostly ocean resorts with coral and nice fish to see while you paddle around

They melt the plastic from a powder, in a big mold that spins and tilts while it melts and it coats the inside of the mold. Pretty neat stuff.

I will be getting 2 eventually, I just need to pace myself for all the things :bananadead:

(No I do not work in the manufacturing plant, I work for another company the owners have in the same facility)

The wash out is on the list to complete for sure. More to explore and less rush this time around.

I’d come along on this one if you guys would entertain it. Not sure my truck is equipped enough for it though. We’ll see when and if it happens though.

Trails were easy and perfect for stock. Just the washout I think is the more difficult part to get through but once someone gets through first, they could always winch you up if need be.
