Alignment After 5100's??

I recently had the 5100's installed on the front of my truck w/ a toyotec AAL in the back. I had the place do an alignment on the front end after the 5100's were installed. It seems as if my camber is off. Is the spec for the alignment different after the lift? I think that they probably aligned the front end to factory specs w/o taking into consideration the front lift. If the specs for the alignment are different should they be able to figure out what the new specs are? Or do I need to figure that out and tell them? THANKS

 

if the 5100 setting is at 0" then no. anything else, yes.

 

I have the front set at 1.75. What specs should be used?

 

I always would assume that an "Alignment shop" would know how to align your vehicle period. I would tell them that you recently did some suspension work to your vehicle which increased the ride height, they should be able to handle it from there. If it isn't aligned properly I would get my money back and go elsewhere for my alignment, there is no need for you to tell them how to align your vehicle or what specs to use. I went through this with a local car dealership. I took my truck back 3 times, 3rd time was a charm I got my money back and went else where. Bottom line it is VERY hard to find a good alignment shop, I'm lucky I now work next to one that does a halfway decent job (most expensive shop in town go figure). The required alignment is the one thing stopping me from lifting my truck, shes brand new and perfectly aligned lol I can't bring my self to fuck with that.

 

^ Thanks I'm going to take it back to them today and see what they say. I just didn't know if I should have some specs before I took it back to them.

 

Ok I took my truck back to have the alignement checked today. They told me everything looked good and was within specs. I asked them if the alignement compensated for the 1.75 lift in the front, and they told me yes. Do I need to take it somewhere else and try to get my money back? This is the sheet that they gave me. It still appears as if my camber is off.

 

I recently lifted my truck and I read many threads about alignment numbers. From the threads I read, the numbers recommended are:
Camber 0
Toe 0
Caster 2.4

The alignment shop is just going by the specs in the computer that are for trucks with stock suspension. When I took my car in for an alignment, I gave them those numbers and told them to use them instead of stock. They made me sign a couple papers saying the truck might handle funny or be unstable because the numbers are "out of spec" and they were not liable for it. They got the job done and truck drives great.

 

Awesome, thats what I needed to know. Ill call them 2maro and see if they can do it with those specs.

 

No problem. How does the truck drive with the stock specs? Can you feel any difference to let you know you think the camber is off or was it just based on the numbers?

When you stand infront of the truck it looks like the wheels are tilting outwards at the top like the camber is off, almost like when you jack the front of your truck up and the wheel raise. It tracks straight w/out any problems and doesn't pull to either side.

Update: I called the place that did the alignment. They said they were willing realign it with the above specs (camber-0, Toe-0, Caster 2.4). The guy there said that with those specs that the truck will drive funny and wonder all over the road. How does everyones truck with the specs set at (camber-0, Toe-0, Caster 2.4) drive?

 

Are the tires going to wear evenly with those specs?

Yea, my alignment shop made me sign papers saying they weren't liable for the way it drove with those settings. They are just trying to cover for themselves since technically those numbers are "out of spec" compared to the numbers in their database.

Hopefully you get it all worked out. I had mine aligned to those numbers and it drives great. It's still too soon for me to say anything about tire wear though.

 

.5 positive camber is what Toyota trucks are set to. But with the camber at zero it allows for more caster wich will give it a more stable feel on the road. So everybody seems to go with 0-0-2.4
