    If it works for you, go for it. Up here where we salt the hell out of everything, none of that stuff's worth a crap. And remember, any product like that is only as good as the pre-cleaning and application. With wheels on the truck, it's virtually impossible to prep and apply enough to do the job correctly.

    BTW, if anybody wants proof of how nasty salt can get - even with a nut case like me carefully cleaning and protecting my winter wheels every year - ask me for some photos in the spring when I take them off. Yea, it's that bad.

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
    If you see a good deal go for it, like others have said use your old set for your winter setup. Save your new wheels for the other three seasons.
    Thats what I do, save the SCS for the rest of the year, and use my OEM wheels with winter tires.

    I live in Chicago and have SCS Stealth 6's, drive around in salt all winter. No issues with my wheels, they shine right up after a wash. Aren't most aftermarket wheels made of cast aluminum alloy? They shouldn't rust like steel wheels right?

    Hahaha you guys have winter set of wheels for a TRUCK??

    Uh no, you don’t take care of your wheels they will corrode.

    Brake dust gets embedded in the finish. Brake dust rusts.
    You’ll ruin the finish on the wheel if you don’t remove it with a deironizer or prevent it from embedding with a coating.

    Aluminum does not "rust." Rust however is just a more common name for what happens when steel / iron oxidizes. When aluminum oxidizes, you get a white, powdery mess on the surface.

    Hmm, see the thing is i painted my oem rims black, but the style is.. meh. I cant increase the size because i just bought new coopers in september. My biggest issue is that the paint comes off very easily from offroad driving (i have a bunch of little spots where the paint chipped away from rocks). Now for the spacers, do they make them so that they slip under the wheel, or do they only come in the adaptor varient ? I've heard bad things about the adaptor ones. Maybe ill get them powder coated or something.. :confused:

    Well good thing I'm not anal about whatever oxidation might occur over the years on my $800 truck rims that are made in Thailand.

    Unless you are in love with the style of wheel I would just get new ones. Powder coating is going to cost about the same.

    I would not run spacers they are heck on your bearings. Just get a wider wheel/tire.

    And you can wait to do all this until you need new tires again.
    Don’t you know you don’t buy new tires without being sure you won’t change wheels?!?!?!

    I like the Turd Gen SR5 wheels. They grey ones. Those are kinda cool. They are 16” rims and you probably can snag a take off set for cheap.

    Waiting ~4 years for new rims isnt an option lol, and the new tires were a must. The previous owner had a cheapo set of chineese all seaons on. I like the size, but not so fond on the rims. Also I got a 5 lug so i cant use any 3rd gen / 6 lug wheels. They are nice though

    agree with this I had the 1st GEN TRD alloys and cleaned sealed them till the cows came home and they still pitted out to where I had them professionally stripped and repainted, doing a pro ceramic job done might be the silver bullet in keeping them weather resistant

    I am going to have to disagree with this statement. Running OEM wheels with spacers has the same negative effect on wheel bearings as an aftermarket wheel with the same offset. There is no difference if both stance are equal. (OEM wheel 5.5" BS with 1" spacer = Aftermarket with 4.5" BS.)
