If you really wanted to come from Ocracoke you could. Ocracoke > Cedar island. Drive to Davis then ferry onto CALO. The CALO ferry is not part of the NC State ferry system, it's privately run.

This came in clutch after I forgot my coffee mug at home this morning. Wouldn't have made it through my Chiefs test without it. @TN_TacoSupreme

If by ace you mean 1, then yes I probably scored 1% on it.

That sounds really out of the way and inconvenient. I didn’t realize I could get to Davis so quickly.

Add 50mph winds and a foot of rain and you're not far off.

We literally snapped tent poles in a large ground tent from wind. It also ripped one my rainfly tie downs off my Tepui. Lessons we're leaned, beer was drank, fish were caught. Gotta have shit go wrong on an adventure, thats what makes fun!

I tell ya, once you're there all the bad doesn't mean shit if you are with friends. We use to camp a lot wen I was a teen. Had to have someone with a license to drive us before I started hanging with older friends that were willing to go. We use to go to Patapsco State Park a lot, but there were times we would just have someone drop us off on the side of the road near a river (Gunpowder) and we would hike to a spot and stay all weekend. The craziest time was a near lord of the flies experience with hand made spears and some raccoons stealing our food. I am talking totally crazy stuff. In the winter the bath house would shut down for showers so we would use a nearby creek and the other campers would just stand there in amazement/disbelief watching us. We didn't care about anything back then.

Now I am soft. I need a mini bar, a hot tub and room service. I do plan on buying either a RTT or a ground tent for wheeling trips with everyone though. I will just have to turn it into a glamping experience.

RTTs do make the whole experience a little better. Plus, you get to yell at all the peasants camping on the ground from about 6ft in the air

Bad Ass!!!!!! In AF!!!! Guess though I would need the ram ball but could use one that goes into a cup holder?

On a side note, we have the same radio. I would love to pick your brain about it sometime if you didn't mind.

My wife agree'd with me though about how clumsy I am and the possibility of me breaking my neck getting in/of of a RTT. There is the cost too. I could get a 8 room cabin ground tent with HVAC for half the price of a used RTT.
