Manual transmission ends the hunting of gears. Since you can hunt your own. Not many trucks have manual option now-a-days.

    Thanks Toyota!!!

I actually wasn't in the US yet. But i now know why so many older vehicles had the 55mph marker...

I came from a car with a V8 and an 8,400 redline so I never had any trouble getting the revs up in the Tacoma.

What car did you have that had 8400 redline?

Maybe. There aren't very many cars that are V8's with such high redlines. Maybe some Ferrari's.

This is why all my Taco’s have been manual transmission.

I was happy with my truck, I wanted more power so I added a CAI, exhaust and a SSP. I was pretty happy with that arrangement. Then I heard about OV Tune! I think in my uneducated salesman mind that I am pushing close to 310 hp. 1.05 was amazing and I am super happy with every aspect of my truck!

    Just my 2 pennies!

I have a 6 speed manual Gen 2, 4L. Drove a 6 speed manual Gen 3, 3.5L. The 4L feels "torquier" off the line and in the low RPMs for each gear. The 3.5L, however, feels much stronger when the RPMs build; it needs to be wound out to feel the power. So, it's a matter of preference. When I get the 3.5 I will probably add OV Tune to get a better power curve.

All I wanna know is, is it safe and normal to always be cruising at 3000 rpm in 4th at 60-70 mph? And is that transmission shudder at 45-50 normal?
I read through about 9 pages here and either didn't see the info I wanted or it was too buried to register .

I had a 5.7 hemi before my tacoma. Was pretty worried about all the low power reviews/complaints. Test drove one and was like wtf? its fine? Its a little slow in acceleration in comparison but I mean I felt fine in it. Feel like this power complaint has been blown way out of proportion and almost reaching meme levels because a v6 doesnt put you in the back of your seat.

An E90 M3. Beautiful piece of engineering. Great car. Couldn’t off-road or carry a sheet of plywood for shit though.

Mine ran great after latest TSB ECU update, but the learning brought it all the way back to the problem of gear finding about 2500 later :( Seriously considering OVTune now.

I may be in the minority here, but I love my new 18' Taco! This is my 5th Yota and am pleased with how it performs. My last one was an 06 MT, but clutch was going out, so I bought this new one. I've been babying it, but have been slowly pressing the gas pedal a little bit closer to the floor each time I drive it. Right at 1200 miles on it now and no complaints so far!
