Saved up enough over the years and finally had enough to buy a used 16 Taco sport certified with 24000 miles on it. really like the quicksand color. It came with the 12000 mile bumper to bumper and 5 years left on power train. My question is after the bumper to bumper is it advisable to get another warranty, if so what is a good company and price range. I see a whole lot of electrical stuff on this that can go tits up before its time. I'm 70 and feel like a young kid just getting his 1st vehicle as it is a joy to drive. Has a lot of premium up grades I'm not a rock crawler but am in the hills a lot. I like the black grills over the chrome so that is going to be changed, not sure yet as to the fender flairs. Looking at the post I see a bunch of you really go whole hog in up dates and I enjoy reading the posts.
    thanks

Welcome and congrats on the new truck. Most will say no to an extended warranty. I had 2 2nd gen Tacoma’s and never had to repair anything. Just general maintenance like plugs, fluids, brakes etc. Enjoy your truck.

    Welcome!

Swap the chrome out, don't get a warranty and drive that bad boy to the ground!

Personally, if I was 70 with a 2016, I would make it my life goal to outlast my Taco and drive that truckto the ground before I couldn't drive anymore.

I'm also curious of an extended warranty "after purchase" as well since I declined it in the finance office. Not sure what the options are...

It sounds like you have quite a bit of time left on your current warranty. So no rush.
I would re-visit this when your warranty is getting close to expire. You will probably have a better feel if you need to add an extended warranty, sell it, or just keep it with no warranty.
    Enjoy the new truck!

You can buy a Toyota Extended Warranty anytime during the Factory 3/36 timeframe. You could probably buy 3rd party warranties after but I wouldn't trust those.

Depends on where you live. Those of us in the scumbag SET or GST regions can't even buy one on a brand new truck. The distributors sell their own so it's third party anyway and overpriced.

Rumors and anecdotes of people buying one from a dealer outside of the region but that is uncommon.

I bet some actuarial tables cross-referencing life expectancy and Tacoma reliability would be interesting in this case. Beyond me, but I bet the warranty is not likely needed unless you drive a lot of miles.

Wow, I knew SET was fucked up but had no idea you could not even buy a Factory Extended Warranty!

Wouldn't waste my money on paying for another warranty.

Its a Toyota, its going to run and run.

I wouldn't. Factory warranty can be daunting to get things looked after at times, I can't imagine what a 3rd party warranty would be like...

Congrats on your new Taco! Here’s a few pictures of my changes to the grille. Started out just painting it black and ended up with replacing it with the one from X-Trex.

Would that Rhino Liner stuff even properly stick to plastics?

I have no Idea, thought maybe someone here would know or have tried it. Guess I could check the body shop that sprays it to find out.
