That's expensive - even people who don't need to think twice about spending $2k on repairs, would know better than to pay that! (Need to adopt the Warren Buffet mindset..) . Find somewhere else to do the work.

I just paid $185 for OEM pads, rotors, pins & clips. A local indy shop charged $105 for installation labor. I think you're getting hosed!

I think Toyota’s policy is you get serviced by which ever tech is available.

Sounds to me like you agreed to bend over. Who's fault is that?

Been there, it's a sonofabitch, but it will feel soooo good when you finally get a garage or at least some space to work on your rigs. If you can't work on it then just go shop it around and find someone else to do the work. You should easily be able to find a shop that will do that for way less.

I can't go to dealerships except for warranty & recalls. This is the exact reason. The good reviews, they get, usually come from folks who just don't know they got screwed. My buddy's sister had a battery go bad in her BMW, $130.00 to have it hauled to the dealer, $510.00 for battery & installation = $640.00 & she was good to go & happy as a lark So happy, she probably gave them a good review. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe the BMW does use a $500.00 battery, if so, just another reason not to be at a BMW dealer.

I still don’t know why people take their truck to a dealer then act shocked when they are getting ripped off.

Its a dealership, they’re gonna rip you off.

Been there done that...except mine was a clutch job. Just over $3k for a new clutch on my 04 courtesy of Toyota, I was in a bind after having a small mom and pop transmission shop screw up my aftermarket clutch installation so I took it to Toyota to 'get it done right'. They did it right, but they bent me over and whispered sweet nothings to me that still haunt me to this day, 2 years later.

These days I'm more equipped and confident to tackle something like that myself, which is what I plan on doing next time with help from some friends on here. For something as simple as brakes and suspension, I would certainly look into doing it yourself. That stuff isn't difficult at all with the right tools and time.

Yeah, thank goodness the OP got them stopped before they screwed him. I can't agree with what T4RFTMFW kind'f, sort'f, in a way said, it ain't their fault if, they screw you & you don't know it. Weather you knew it or not, at that price for that work,"THEY SCREWED YOU"

I just moved here 2 weeks ago and don't know much about area. Thought it was going to be a simple TSB fix for the clunking I am hearing. Then the service guy called me back saying I needed new UCA's and that he needed to order ASAP if I wanted done by weekend. Not good under pressure I reluctantly agreed but quickly posted here because I found it hard to believe it could be that expensive. Sure enough I got my answer and immediately called them back and let them have an earful about how bad they were ripping me off and told them to cancel all work on truck. They had already done the front brakes so I will pay them for that, but going somewhere else to get rest of work done.

There are a ton of TW members in AZ, as well as some very active regional AZ threads on here. @glockner if you post up in one of those threads I'm sure you'll find some guys on here willing to help you out with their time, tools and space. Either for food/beer or a few bucks cash - either way you'll save a ton of money, meet some cool people and learn some new things about working on your rig.

Yes, having a decent, indoor space would certaily be nice; my current only working space, an oudoor gravel spot,

at least it's well off the road :D:
