On a serious note though. Do t skimp on the lift. If you go cheap you’ll regret it and end up doing it all over again but the right way. 2-3” will cost around 1500. More lift means bigger tires. Bigger tires mean you’ll want to go off road. So new UCS’s. Lmao. Oh brother. Just open your wallet

I went with ICON stage 3 with new UCA’s and running 285’s (33x11.50). Everyone is different. Just really depends how far you want to take it.

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
I'd recommend for your budget to save a few hundred for and buy some dakars, and an old man emu lift (I think around 1300)

    A thing or two...
In the $1-2k range, most people go with Bilstein 5100s, OME coils, SPC or JBA UCAs, and an add-a-leaf in the rear, which is pretty much the basic lift for a Tacoma. It will get the job done, but the more you spend, the better stuff you end up with and will end up running it longer.

It took me over a year of back and forth reading about lifts before I pulled the trigger.

    IT NEVER ENDS..........
For what you do bilstein 5100/ome 887 in front with either AAL in rear or Dakar medium would be fine and around 1k.

@steiner9er this is also the route I went with. 5100's all around, OME 887 up front and icon progressive AAL in the rear. I will do some off roading but nothing too crazy.... my lift is mainly for aesthetics and a bit more ground clearance with the potential of adding a bedrack and RTT later. Mine will be installed here shortly and I can't report back then but I am sure it will completely suffice for my needs. Maybe one day when/if this truck is strictly a toy, I'd consider upgrading to something with more potential but considering this is a DD and my main purpose is truck for work/house purposes, I'm sure I will be happy.

Talked to a guy today who calls his truck bed "nature's trash can" because whenever he gets on the highway "it just blows all the trash out for me."

What WAS gonna be a simple job turned into a clusterfuck as usual. One of @twheat40 alignment bolts was seized in the bushing. We were able to pop it out with a ball joint press kit, clean it up and antiseize it. Thank goodness.
