We were lost in Puerto Vallarta one day and I asked one of the waiters taking a smoke break outside of a Hotel, in Spanish, “Where is the Mall?” (There’s this big ass mall in Puerto Vallarta that’s down the street from the port)

He just looked at me like I was speaking Latin, it probably was with whatever broken grammar my three years of High School Spanish could muster.

I said the name of the mall and he understood me, eventually.

Another one: My Spanish teacher when I was a Sophomore made us memorize a song in Spanish and recite it from heart for credit. It was a song about a man leaving on a sailboat on the ocean because he was heartbroken or something. Then it switches after the chorus to him returning on the boat (this is important)

On that same trip, we went deep sea fishing with a couple people and the captain didn’t speak English. One guy got sick and we weren’t catching anything so we all wanted to go back early.

I was the only one on board with some semblance of being fluent in Spanish, so I was tasked with somehow communicating we wanted to go back. I could not, for the life of me, think of what the words for “go back to port” were.

Then I remembered that stupid song my teacher made me memorize years earlier. The song about a man returning on a boat on the ocean.

I started singing the song in my head until “Velero Regreso a Porte” came up in the lyrics. Sailboat return to port, or something like that.

Apparently they understood me because we made it back. Haha.

Yeah, but everything in the Philippines is fake. If you have a Rolex in Southeast Asia and you’re not obviously a rich person or some kind of government official they’ll know it’s fake.

Possibly, but a lot of people do dress to blend in wherever they're going. Depends on the situation really. I wouldn't wear it on my arm, that's for sure. Keep it on your person in case you need to use it

That guy is crazy. He’s admitted pushing people out of helicopters.

The stuff he’s said is probably a little too innapropriate (and political) for this thread, but here’s a news article if you want read more on it.

Here’s one of the more tame things he’s said.

yeah that dude is insane. If you're so much as accused or thought of to be a drug dealer or user, you get killed. Didn't/doesn't he have some group that goes around murdering people he suspects of being involved with drugs? No trial, no questioning, no investigation...just killed where they stand. Dude needs to lose his head
