I know it is. Gonna have to start restoring old cars is all. This is why I was kindly asking for mechanical knowledge and not a lot of opinions about why I'm wrong.

Just keep the keyless fob there. You will never have to fumble it out of the bag or pull the lanyard off your neck. Problem solved

I think the question has been answered, it's probably not possible due to sensors... beyond that, people are just interested in the rationale. I don't think anyone is criticizing you for wanting to do it, we just want to understand "why".

Usually the shoe is on the other foot. People have a keyed ignition and want PTS.

    Good luck and welcome.

When flat-panel tvs were taking over, I held onto my CRT. I kept my plasma tv long past it's usefulness and I can still tell you why it's better than my current TV. But point taken, so... sorry!

In a world where anything is possible, I'm thinking this would be way more hassle than what it is worth. I understand your concerns, but after you have it for a while, you will adapt.

I will tell you that I learned the hard way once and that was all that it took. I was accustomed to driving my wife's car on a trip. She was always with me with her key and I drove. We were about a mile from the car and I decided that I would be nice and go get it and pick her up since it was raining. I got to the car, pulled on the door and instantly realized my error. That only took once.

I cuss every time I unlock the door to my house because of that damn key fob. It gets in the way of using my actual keys.

Anyone ever yank a Toyota push to start button out of the dash?

Curious to see what's behind it.

Haha all good! I don't blame you!! I'm just really stubborn about this and everyone hates me for it, but it is one more battery to replace, one more thing to fail, one more thing to forget

I don't have pockets in my work clothes and a lot of what I wear... don't want to shove it down my bra either.

I don't think you'll get a solid "no", because ultimately, it IS possible. However, the cost would be so prohibitive, that most if not all of the people on here would never do it. I'd imagine that you'd have to pioneer this mod.

LOL.. I cuss each time I need a key for the house as well as my office, and usually try to use the office on the house or vise-versa. I have to go digging in my pocket and typically cuss under my breath something like "why can't everything be key-less like my truck so I don't have to deal with this BS. "

Admittedly when I first got the 3rd gen I thought PTS was silly and a key was so much easier and better. Now I love it and hate when I have to move someone;'s car that has a regular keyed ignition.

To each their own I guess.

You're still going to have to find a place for the keys once you have a regular ignition though..

As other have said it IS possible, so is dropping in a V8, and so forth. But the cost of doing so will likely out weight any possible benefit one may gain.

You are going to have to deal with a key fob, or a key either way, not a huge difference, more of a shape and convenience change difference really/

I would suggest that IF you wind up with a PTS to give it a shot before condemning it, you may very well love it in the long run.
