What's up guys. So I just sold my 1997 4x4 Taco and bough a 2006 4DR Tacoma SR5. I thought that all the sport packages came with the damn riff diff lock, but when I looked for it today the button was not there (Guessing that mine is the sport and not the offroad from what I gather). Can anyone fill me in on some info or give me a good link? The decals on the side of my truck say TRD Sport, and the back is Pre-runner SR5. I guess I was wrong and I am feeling kind of let down that it doesn't have the rear lock because who knows when I will want to take it off road a bit. My truck has everything else though, mud flaps, hood scoop, power everything, cruise control, but no damn riff diff lock. Last question, Does my truck have the limited slip-diff built into it? and if so, does anyone have any experience with that off road? Thanks in advance guys much appreciated!

Well %$%!. How does the LSD perform? Can you even tell a difference from a regular Two wheel drive?

I've never drove a sport, but I would imagine it's better than an open diff like I got.

sport w/ mechanical lsd is better than nothing....but locker option was only on the trd off road

You can hold the brake a bit to help trick the LSD into transferring power to the 'stuck' wheel instead of the loose spinning wheel. It's no locker, but it is better than an open diff.

That's a pretty big change man, from 4x4 to 4x2 with lsd only...

I knew I wasn't getting a 4x4, but I thought I was getting a 4x2 with a rear locking diff...They have that right? Or is the rear locking diff only on the 4 Wheel drive? Thanks to everyone who has inputed

Well I just answered my question about the two different types there are 4x2 rear locking diff and then a 4x2 Limited rear diff. I guess not that big of a let down, but if anyone has any more knowledge on the LSD and how it works I'd love to hear

TRD off road comes with the locker. That package can be bought either with 2wd prerunner or 4x4.
