Tire psi whatdo you run?

I just got a set of bfg ko2s 285/75r16 and trying to figure out what pressure to run on road and off road what do you guys run?

 

Door jamb pressure. I thinks it's 26psi on my 99. Works fine for me with 285/75/16 E load Toyos.

In my humble opinion, the "door jamb" suggestion is too low. I feel they want 26lbs. to achieve a better ride quality on our trucks as they are inherently stiff riders.
So my way is to strike a balance between the door jamb number and the max inflation number on whatever tire I am running. The Michelins I have now say "35lbs. max" so I keep them right at 30lbs.
I bought these tires in 2014 at 120,891 miles and just turned 140,000. That's a little over 19,000 miles on these tires. They still look like I just bought them last week.

 

Too many variables, load range and weight of your truck being the biggest. Chalk test for street driving. Experiment with different pressure offroad. I generally start around 13psi for most of my offroad driving with E range tires and 2000lbs heavier than a stock truck. In snow I've been down to 7ish without issues

35 psi all around on the street

 

Doesn't get too harsh on the street? I haven't tried 45 but when I first got my truck, the dealer had the KO2s inflated to 55 psi all around and I thought I was going to die on the highway, every little bump especially on a turn made the back end feel like it was going to fly off to the side and I would crash. Brought them down to 35 and it was 1000x better

edit: this was also when the truck had stock suspension so that could've had something to do with it, but with a lift I feel like it might make it even worse

 

yeah the C rating probably helps a lot, mine were E so they were harsh to begin with

 

That's not a good way to do it of say running 50psi or even 85psi max psi tires. You only add pressure based on the weight of rig. So your just giving yourself a stiff ride for no reason.

 

yeah the max PSI rating on the sidewalls isn't a recommendation, haha. It's just the maximum PSI you can run before you risk blowing the tire. I wouldn't run my tires anywhere near the max PSI rating

 

My chalk test wanted me to run 20psi. With the highway driving I keep it at 26-28psi cold.

That sucks to get good wear you need to run them so high. Like riding on bricks

 

Try 28psi. Such a good ride and I still get good tire wear.

 

I did notice chalk test on my muds was a lot lower psi than wifes duratracs. Run here at 32psi.
