If you’re parked outside and there is a pending snow/ice storm, do you leave your windshield wiper arms up or down?

I leave them up when ever I park @ the House ( year around )....... all my 4 wheelers in fact ...... the wipers last a very long time that way. I've found that they don't " wear " out ....... when constantly in the down position they retain
a " memory " of the offset position and " chatter " when used and results in poor performance. YRMV ......

Why not just “leave” them up all the “time” even when “driving”?

The way I phrased my question, makes it seem like the truck is being robbed

Pretty common in snow/ice country to raise the wipers off windshield.

    I leave them down.
Very rarely do we get straight snow. I don't want them ice-locked in the up position.

If there's pending snow/ice, I always raise them.
Just makes things easier in the morning if the windshield is frozen.

I try brush the snow off with my arm and let the highway driving take off the small amount left over. In my old Tacoma I had left the wiper blades down and went to use them, ripping the wiper blade in half lol. As the snow froze to the windshield and wiper blade.

Where at? I’ve done both. This is also a very very mild winter here. Up would prolong life of the blade and you wouldn’t have to “break” them free from the windshield. Mostly I just don’t think about it so they are usually down. We also tend to just suck up the winter stuff and deal with it however.

I live in Southern California and today is a brisk 62 degrees.

I am grateful to be here. I’m sorry about your real winter problems.
