Hi guys, I recently installed some "raptor lights" on my TRD Off Road by tapping into the DRL wire. The toggle switch is off, DRL, parking lights, headlights. I have noticed when I toggle the switch to DRL my parking lights also come on (side ambers, rear lights, license plate) however my instruments inside do not turn on. If I toggle the switch to parking lights then everything works like normal along with toggling it in headlight. I have tried disconnecting the "raptor lights" to see if it would bring everything back to normal but it still does it. Any help would be appreciated thanks!

Not quite sure what you did there or what you mean by toggle switch but the raptor lights should come on with the parking lights “side marker lights” makes more sense to tap the purple and white wires coming from the side marker lights. Purple is hot and white is ground if I remember correctly

The DRL position on the stalk should only turn on the DRLs and nothing else. It's your 'daytime' setting for lights. When you select parking lights or headlights, that's when all of your parking lights and instrument lights should come on, those would be your nighttime light settings.

If you're getting any other auxiliary lights coming on with DRLs, it's possible you messed up something with your wiring.

Sorry if I wasn't clear, when I said toggle switch I meant the one that is on the steering wheel column that you click off, drl, parking light, headlight. When I clicked it to turn on the drl, the parking lights all come on as well but not the interior lights like gauge cluster. If I clicked it one more to parking lights then everything works from normal from then on. The "raptor lights" were tapped to the pink wire.

I tapped the "raptor lights" into the pink wire of the headlight, the drl position before just turned on the drl and nothing else until I click it to the parking lights. After installing the "raptor lights" when I clicked it to the drl everything as mentioned above turns on except the actual headlights but non of the instruments turn on.

Reverse the wiring modification you did and use an add-a-fuse to tap into your headlamp fuse. Then they'll come on with your headlights and it should reverse whatever you did to your current wiring.

In the auto position the DRL will be on regardless if it’s night or day but the instrument cluster will be not lit during the day because of the sensor on the passenger side of the dash. If you cover the sensor with your hand and turn the lights to off then back on while covering the sensor the instrument cluster will lite up in the auto position. In other words the gauge cluster is tied to that sensor on the dash.

I'm not familiar with the wiring for the lights, but from what I understand the stalks are more complicated than simple switches. So even if all you did is tap into a wire coming out, you could be confusing the whatever mini-computer is in the stalk. That said, I'm sure someone here has made a write-up of how they hooked up their raptor lights, maybe try a search?

That's only for models equipped with auto headlights. From what OP said it sounds like he has the manual stalk.

You are correct no auto, I have searched but everyone who install the lights will either work when drl is on it will turn off when the headlights are on and vice versa

Hey OP, just wanted to see if you ever got this figured out. Just installed mine and same thing is happening. But I do have the auto feature. Parking lights stay on at all times while truck is running.

Just curious - where did you make the tap that screwed everything up?

I tapped into the green and pinkish one at the same time, I wanted the raptors lights on at all times but I like it where I have the option to leave it off by not turning on the parking lights

Will this only turn the raptor lights on when headlights are on?

    Thanks.

You can add features like this using switches and relays. But it would require some rewiring.

The pink wire is parking the green is Drl. You are essentially connecting your parking lights to the Drl switch
