Can I use my Taco as a towable vehicle?

Can I tow my auto trans taco?
(2010 TRD Sport Auto)

I would like to tow my tacoma behind a motorhome without a caddy.
I do not see any threads on the subject of towable, only towing.

To tow, or not to tow? Which is the true answer?

Yes, I have been accused of being blind before, in addition to loosing some other major bodily functions as well.

i think i saw it in the owners manual, would have to check though , it should be in there

 

How big of a motor home?

 

I was just reading the owners manual and I'm sure i clearly saw that it said in bold letters, "Note this vehicle is not equipped to be towed behind an RV" or something like that. But I'm almost positive I saw this.

 

ya... you need a transmission disconnect. just putting it in neutral doesnt work.

my aunt and uncle tow a truck behind their motor home and they had to buy a special kit for the transmission to tow the truck.

couldn't you just disconnect the drive shaft?

What a hassel for 2-300 mile trips. I have
a car dolly, but that is a big hassel too. Which
axel do you pull? Neither I suspect.

ya.. you could pull the drive shaft off, but if there is a kit for doing this, it makes it easier

heres a company that offers disconnects with the following configurations:

• Drive Shaft Couplings for automatic transmissions with rear wheel drive
• Lube-Pumps cools the automatic transmission fluid when towing
• Axle-Lock disconnects for disengaging the automatic transmission of a front wheel drive vehicle.

still better than disconnecting the driveshaft or installing a tranny pump

 

if i were gonna tow mine i would use a dolly for the front, then either pull the rear driveshaft or get some sort of disconnect..


ofcourse if i were actually gonna tow MY truck i would just use the dolly and pop the tcase in netural... but most dont have that ability..

 

Get a trailer. No wear and tear on the truck. No mods and no special equipment.

 

+1, but damn that's gonna add some weight.
