Thank you for the correction. For some reason I thought the CG was brought under DoD after 9/11, then back to DoT.

With that said, the Military is not effected by the shutdown. I'm not being snarky, but clarifying an issue without bringing politics into this.

I didn't miss your point. I just didn't properly express what I meant to say - went off on a tangent. I agree that it is not slavery and I do not believe it is unethical.

You make a good point that I’ve been talking to Mike about. He’s pulled his gofundme, and I’m trying to talk him into putting it back up with no details about him being IRS. Ironically...he’s in IT and makes sure that eFile works and data sharing between IRS, VA, and SSA continue.

I grew up in Tucson. Seen a few of them before but never been bit by one.

    I get it though...for science...and drama

    FTFY.

At ~4.5 million views he has made approximately $4500 off of that bite.

Still don't know if it's worth it...

I'm old and out of touch with this world.... who actually pays the person for the amount of views, YouTube? Like, they just use your YouTube account info and send you money :notsure:

...^^^... Old guy here too ... guessing.

I think that the commercial advertisers pay You-Tube (Google) for commercial spots on those videos and then Google pays the people who post the videos.

The cooler the video ... the more clicks ... the more commercial ads seen ... the more money paid to the private poster.

Everybody is paid on "number of clicks" or 'click-bait".

    IIRC ... Google owns You-Tube, I think ?

Note ... Did this from memory with no Googling ... :)

So it sounds like YouTube owes me like... $0.001 for all my hit videos I've posted.

...^^^... This is from my experiences only.

I have about 64 domain names that get clicks. (Maybe enough clicks on some to pay the domain name rent at Network Solutions where they are registered)

Guessing now ... let's say Google gets paid 3 cents a click ... and maybe pays 1 cent per click on a busy video to poster. Good profit because their video supply is unlimited worldwide. They love those crazy and popular videos.

Therefore, they make 200 % just for hosting that video on their server.

Now that TW is popular ... they generate a lot of clicks to other sites too and that helps pays their bills.

    This is pretty much it.

    Advertisers pay per ads clicked.

If your video gets a million views and no ads clicked, you don't get anything.

This all can vary based on length of the video, if you have a channel with subscribers (posted video has a channel with 13 million subscribers), location, etc.

Google does indeed own Youtube which is why Youtube is now infested with ads.

Speaking for myself, if an ad pops up in the middle of a video I am trying to watch, there is no better way to absolutely guarantee that I will NEVER buy that product.

"Wow, this is a really cool truck this guy has built and now he is about to go into detail about how the suspension was done, but wait, what's that? Why yes, my hemorrhoids have been itching quite a bit lately. What an opportune time to solve another of life's little inconveniences with an advertiser's solution."

Had a brief phone call the other day about getting a credit card. After telling the lady I'm not interested and her continuing to try and get me to sign up for a credit card I just hung up.

Imagine if tcBob got $.05 for every cai and what size tire fits post. He'd be hand delivering us TW stickers.

Can't stand this. Even when you politely tell them no. Worse yet is the door to door soliciters who ignore my "no tresspassing" sign at the door. Then they act like I'm the asshole. I am now because you ignored my sign and my polite request to f**k off so you've used up your chances. Maybe an electric fence...
