The question stands. I've got the Scosche and it's garbage. And I don't wanna switch to Metra because I've heard it's garbage.

Does anybody have some rare kit that has metal brackets like the stock kit or something? Or some mutant that they made themselves with parts from the stock and parts from another dash kit?

I had the scosche kit, it was garbage. I have the metra kit, it's not as much garbage as the scosche kit. Doesn't help, but I'm not sure there are any other alternatives.

I used Metra with stock metal brackets no complaints.
The kit was free from crutchfield with deck purchase.

What about those of you who drive your trucks into the ground daily and shake around on tough trails? I feel like my dash kit might pop out and break some of the brackets if I hit a big bump at speed.

I'm the opposite, had my single din in a Metra and thought it was crap, and looked pretty much like crap (or mine did).

Ordered a scosche, looks infinitely better, ast least so far sitting on my kitchen table, plan on installing it in a few days when I get the interior back in.

from the comments one would think that it really depends on the individual kit you get. my metra(double din) is pretty much flawless. everyone who has seen it says it looks like it came from the factory that way. it doesn't shake or rattle at all, and I beat the sh*t out of it quite often on the trails.

I think if you go double din you can go either way. I think the scosche for single din is one big piece, and the metra is two. I think that's one reason my metra wasn't up to par, in addition to it fitting like crap in the dash - gaps on both sides and the top would not stay snapped in.

As with me and the double din, no clue. But if you are getting a single Din, I'd go scosche. That pretty much useless pocket under the radio on a single din kit is even more small and useless on the metra. At least you can throw some sunglasses or something in teh scosche pocket.

x2 My Scosche dbl din squeaked badly and used it's own cheesy plastic mounts. I now use the black metra which utilizes the stock metal brackets. No squeaks or rattles so far and looks better than the poorly color matched Scosche.

I have the Scosche single DIN and it squeaks a bit, but someone else posted a fix in another thread. Adhesive felt on the bottom of the adapter where it butts up against the HVAC controls. I think I sanded mine a little and that helped a tiny bit. It's been a while since I had to get in there.

I love the little pocket for mail, Post-its, thumb drives, etc... I know I would miss that if I went double DIN.
