Hi, I’m new to Tacomas and I’m looking for a hard or soft folding tonneau cover that can be opened for full bed use also for a bed rack system that can be used.

    Please give me any guidance.

    Thanks

I have the Truxedo roll up tonneau. It has worked fairly well for me, especially for the price, I paid about $300 for it.

KB Voodoo makes tonneau compatible brackets, that you can attach bed rack or roof rack bars to, and put whatever you want on it:

    http://www.kbvoodoo.com/shop/bed-rack-tonneau-cover-brackets

Dont have experience with it, but people on here seem really happy with KBVoodoo products in general.

@KB Voodoo I’ve been looking for something silimar but I’ve got a question (might be dumb) but how do you open the tonneau cover with the rack? Wouldn’t the rack be in the way??

The only kind of covers that can open are retractables.

Unless you go with one of these: http://www.kbvoodoo.com/shop/utility-rack-for-tonneau-covers

They're nice, but honestly I never have a need to open the cover when the rack is in place. You get used to accessing the bed through the tailgate.

When and if you need full access to the bed, the rack pops off in 90 seconds.

Pace-Edwards retractable tonneau. Compatible with Yakima and Thule. I use it for fat bikes, road bike, SUP, Kayak, etc.

Well I open mine all the time so my suggestion would be retractable for ease of use. Obviously someone without a need to open the cover wouldn't need a retractable so yes, you're right!

If you want full bed use with a tonneau, sounds like you'll need a retractable tonneau. That being said, I've got the OEM hard tonneau and I purchased my rack from KORE4X4. I'm very happy with it!! I can lift the last section of the tonneau to access what's in the bed.

In reality how hard it is to take these off when you want to use the bed open?

Pop out four bolts, lift the rack off. It's super easy.

The bottom half of the tonneau brackets stays in place under the cover.

Been looking at these KBVoodoo bars for a while. Glad I waited, those aluminum ones look tight.

@KB Voodoo , do you have crossbars that work with the Bakflip 4? I see that the cross bars attach to the factory rails, but the Bakflip drops those rails a couple/few inches. Also it looks like the brackets break the seal somewhat with the weather stripping on the tonneaus pictured. Have you had complaints with leaking with the brackets installed? Stoked to see this thread as I like my Bakflip (and more importantly just don't want to go through the hassle of replacing it) but have realized I need more above bed storage.

We only have bed racks that work with that cover: https://www.max-modular.com/shop-max-modular/

These are the tonneau brackets that are required: https://www.max-modular.com/shop-max-modular/tonneau-brackets-bakflip
