Similar experience with mine but until I see it really jump around do you think the “shaking” we see is due to the very sharp cutoff with this setup? Just seems to me that cutoff is a new focal point that we see moving with the truck. Maybe it’s me or got lucky but will continue to monitor and will report back as real shaking would be unacceptable.

After some time now, my impression is that the projection pattern w these Phillips 4300s is a defined triangle with slightly more light than I’d prefer right in front of the truck. Another vehicle w true HID projectors is same color but puts more of the output further down the road. Overall this a huge improvement over stock, feel safer, color is great and I’m satisfied. The cutoff is on average just below the mirrors of cars ahead.

Please report back on your high beam experience would like to do same!

Thank you for this thread. Just ordered 5k . Definitely paranoid about the 4300

After sitting in the box for over a month, I finally installed my Philips 4300k bulbs. I did not use the relays. Pretty painless install without them. However, I'm not real crazy about the color temp. I'm thinking I should have gone 5000k....but is it true the color temp will change over time? I read that earlier in this thread, but just looking for feedback from others that have had them installed for a while. I really would like a closer match to the DRL's.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who doesn't like the color temp of the 4300k. Wish I'd gotten the 5000k also.

I went ahead and ordered the 5k bulbs. I’ll check them out and keep one of the pairs as backups. Got an additional 10% off today

Glad to hear you were able to finally get your HID kit installed! As for the colour, the Philips 4300K HID bulbs will color shift to 4700K after about 100 hours of usage but the 5000K would still be a better match with the LED daytime running lights.

How long you fellows getting out of your bulbs? I installed a HID kit in my wifes 2016 4Runner beginning of December so can't have more then 20 days of driving to work and back and one light pooped out on the way back from the movies tonight.

Swapped out the 4300 to 5k. They look great. As others have stated, inserting them to the socket is difficult as compared to the 4300s or LED’s. Takes some umph to twist it...I put some electrical tape around it to protect the heat shrink and then used some pliers to get it turned completely.

Very satisfied with them. I’ll hang on to the 4300’s for backups.

Does 5k have a blue tint in the middle top? Just making sure mine are normal.

Also, my drivers side light went out. It was raining. Found a lot of water due to rain under the hood. Is moisture a concern with our trucks for the ballast?

After a while, the headlight came back on.

If it happens again, I would swap the bulb to the passenger side to determine if your bulb is going out. Checking the bulb is much easier than checking wires/grounds, ballasts and relays. My two cents.

I am experiencing shake/ wiggle with 5k at speeds 35 and lower. but I tend to agree it is the natural movement of the vehicle. Its not noticeable at highway speeds.

Have you guys experienced with oncoming traffic flashing their lights at you thinking you have your high beams on? I get 4-5 of those while on dark hwys. I guess I could look into aiming down the lights.

I haven't but, the cutoff height on my mine is the same as the old stock halogens (I marked the halogen cutoff on a wall before installing the HIDs) and I have no lift kit

Ordered a kit with 4300k what I thought were suppose to be Philips. Got them and it looks like they are XD brand. I ordered the kit for the Tacoma which says comes with Phillips.

Really having a hard time dealing with these guys. No response from XD when I sent a support request wondering when they were shipping my lights.

Can anyone confirm that the Philips should be branded with Philips somewhere?

The bulb should be Phillips but they are re-based on to XDs own base to fit our truck I'm pretty sure. There should of been a Phillips info card in your box.

It’s because you have hid bulbs in a halogen projector so it intensifies the squirrel spotters thus blinding people.

Unfortunately I got nothing in the box. No install instructions, or Philips paperwork.

This has been a pretty bad experience ordering from these guys so far. I reached out to figure out where my order was and never got a response. I was completely confused why I ordered from XD but had a PayPal invoice from The Retrofit Source. All in all, have been surprised considering this thread seemed like everyone was happy with there customer service.

Anyway, the box indicates that I got 4K bulbs not Philips 4300K. Not really sure what’s up. Hopefully I will get a response regarding this issue. I was hoping to install this weekend but I will need to hold off until I get an answer from XD.
