If you make it out to SoCal, I'll trade you. Work schedule doesn't allow me to travel far for a while.

I have an aluminum pelfreybilt and it's garbage... Looks cool, but everytime I have to actually use it for winching or recovery it bends pretty bad. I've had to take it off a few times to straighten it. Then one of the fog light mounts broke off because they hadn't even welded it on and it was held by just two tacks. Had to Tig it back on but it's such a tough spot to get access too on the bumper once it's already built. Definitely would never get an aluminum bumper again.

Anyway, that has nothing to do with your thread Ive just had a really bad experience with it.

Curious what bumper support brackets you have. Theirs we're pretty shitty. I bought brute Force brackets to use with mine.

Thats good info man, i havent really heard much bad about aluminum from anyone with experience. Its usually guys that have never had one saying theyre weak and sure they’re weaker than steel but theyre damn sure stronger than plastic.

Ive winched a couple dozen times at all angles and ive never seen the bumper flex or bend but who knows maybe their quality went to shit. I got mine about 3 years ago.

Just the pelfreybilt ones that supports that lower piece that is totally pointless. I will probably be cutting the whole front of the frame off when I eventually build my own front bumper. You gain approach angle that way too.

I got mine early 2016, so around the same time. They just aren't strong where they actually mount to the frame .I can flex the bumper just by pulling on it with all my weight. Mine is for sure even weaker now that it has been bent a few times though. I know @ChandlerDOOM had his bend pretty bad winching with it as well.

Certainly better than nothing, and the weight savings is nice. I may try to Tig on some more gussets and brace the front of the frame too, but for now as long as it doesn't fall off I have other stuff I'm working on haha.

I was recovered from the right anchor once, and the bumper pulled over an inch forward on that side. That was the first bad one and it's never been the same since.

Interesting. Was that his first or second bumper from them? Because I have his OG bumper installed (see post #15) and it wasn't bent at all. Lined up great on install.

I'm not sure to be honest, I would have to look back through his build thread. It was after he put on the 37s though, I know that

Wish I had one to trade. If anyone is looking to sell their pelfreybilt, I'm in need of a new bumper.

Steel is crap I use cardboard where I can. Lighter weight and it soaks up water which I can later use to wash off my tires
