    Predator steps are aluminum vs the majority of steel so they never rust but any any off-roading, forget about it. you're the 4th person I've seen posting this kinda of thing. You would need someone with aluminum welding tools to fix it.

    Not sure what you mean by under liners, but yes, they solved the problem of stuff coming up on the paint. Between These and the mud guards I get virtually nothing flinging onto the paint. I have OEM mudguards and these line up even with them.

    I really like the look of those boards, tell me are the low enough to actually be considered and used as a step. I just returned a set of Tyger steps, no doubt would keep dingers away but by no means a useful step more like a pants dragger...

    What brand are they and where did you buy them?

    Go Rhino step bars. Similar to N Fab, but cheaper. I wanted Predator bars but didn't wanna pay the price, these were way cheaperIMG_4302.jpg

    just put the 5" black ovals on my truck a few days ago. got them from a local dealer (there are quite a few in my area and it paid to look around). I think the OEM ovals fit / look the best, but that's just my opinion

    Don't buy cast aluminum from dealer. Our '19 came with them ($795!). Completely worthless as a step. Took them off after 3 weeks and sold them for less than 1/2 price!! Now, trying to find something that is lower so is actually usable for a step.

    I've been looking at these bars. Are they low enough to actually be usable for steps; or can they be (easily) lowered? Can you tell me how many inches from the bottom of the truck to the top of the bars - or pic? Thanks!

    Tell me about rebuilding the brackets. The 4" ProTraxx is exactly what I'm looking for but am guessing they are mounted too high to be very usable for steps. We sold the 3rd gen aluminum OEM boards because they were so high to the truck they weren't practical for steps. So, we'd probably have to lower the ProTraxx also. Tips?

    Really it just came down to some 2" wide flatbar from memory, we cut the old ones in half and welded the flat bar inbetween. It was quite simple and made them useable. Great now for the kid to climb in, helps the wife, and I no longer rub them on my pant legs. The only bummer is it would be nice to have these brackets made 100% stainless as the paint will chip of quickly, but that's with any step bar bracket unless it's SS or aluminum.
