I’m planning to run a relay harness this summer, it’s too damn cold to mess with much this time of year. I’ve also got a n-fab light mount and a pair of Hella 700FF’s with 100w bulbs waiting for a quiet week at work for me to take my truck in the shop and install them.

What are your plans for how to mount the Hellas? I’ve often thought of putting something similar behind the grill, though that would mean ditching my Pro grill for a mesh one.

Would bulb life of the GE +130 in the high beams be significantly affected, due to the bulb being used for DRL's + hi beam in a 4runner?

I guess I'm wondering how the DRL's would contribute to an already short bulb life.

The GE +130s do not come in an H9 high beam bulb, low beam bulb/dual filament bulbs only.

But to answer your question in a hypothetical senario, the calander time they last would certainly be shorter since they would always be on during the daytime using up the bulb life. In that senario you could install a relayed harness or look for another way disable the DRL functionality, and/or replace the DRL functionality with something else outside of the high beam function.

I put in the GE +130s and the usable light in front of the truck is much greater. Ideally I would like it to be whiter, but that is a form over function thing. Functionally these seem to be the best answer. The stock bulbs that came with the truck were just sad.

Has anyone tried Vosla H11 +120 bulb? I found it on the candlepower website. The picture of the bulb looks like there is no blue coating on it. Just wondering if this would be better output.

If the light is a true, ballast fired, voltage controlled HID bulb (open arc sustained in an inert gas plasma) then there should be no shaking. The problem is none of the after market systems are truly HID. A true system consists of ballasts, constant voltage control, ambient lighting sensors, and subsystems that aim the light beam away from oncoming traffic.

Yep, they are good but the GEs are better. They do have a tiny amount of blue coating on the tip, so little I’m not sure why they bothered.

See post #142 here for details:

Just curious if anyone has found the rated hours for the GE megalight? I just bought a pair, currently have the Phillips extreme vision 100% installed.

Has anyone tried the PIAA Extreme White Plus H11 bulbs? Any input would be appreciated!

The GE130's were a huge improvement on my truck (as I already posted) but now I want to upgrade my son's 4Runner. what is your suggestion for those? the GE 130s, or a h9? something else based on the different projector housing? The 4Runner part of this board is...not as active.

The bulb life is short, I believe it is something like 150 hours. The bulbs I run are 200 hours and I typically get about a year, so I would anticipate on the order of 9 months if your usage is similar to mine. The Philips +100s by comparison are over 400 hours. But the GEs are a significant improvement over the Philips.

PIAA products are terrible, their advertising claims are extremely misleading and they are way over priced. I would not recommend PIAA. Any fully coated bulb like the Xtreme White will reduce output, often those types of bulbs actually put out less light than stock.

I’ve not personally tried the 4Runner housings, but they are not supposed to be as good as the Tacoma’s projectors as they are said to not have as much focus.

I would anticipate the GEs still performing better. If you already have the GEs you could swap one out of your truck and one of your H9s from your high beam, put them both in his low beams and do a side-by-side comparison to confirm before ordering.

I love the fact that there are still people opting to use upgraded halogen bulbs in a halogen housing instead of led or hid. There is hope for humanity still lol.

You ordered from PowerBulbs? How long ago did you order? It took 10 days to get mine from the UK to the Seattle area using their free shipping option.
