Thanks in advance for help and answers... two time Tacoma owner (1998 SR, 2008 SR5) soon to be buying a third this spring (2019 TRD Sport?). [1] The TRD Sport model comes with 17 inch wheels and most of the other models have 16 inch wheels... can someone get 16 inch wheels on a TRD Sport? if so will a dealership be willing to work with a buyer on this?... gotta get a 16 inch wheel spare too. [2] On the Toyota website the Premium Package option is only available for certain colors? really? Is there a chart/table that a dealer provides showing what option packages available for which model?

Just started researching so only a few questions so far. I have visited this site since the buyback in 2008 and really enjoy the board for researching issues, mods, etc... but you gotta ignore the Chevy/Ford/Dodge trolls... Tacoma is the best damn truck!

The 16" Off Road wheels seem to show up a lot for sale where i'm at for dirt cheap.

There’s more tire options for 17” wheels, and check craigs list and offer up. I sold my stock wheels and tires for 400 cause I wanted them gone

For the website when "building" a truck, it only shows whats available in your area at that time. If you changed the zipcode or wait a month or so and come back, you will see differences. Basically, you will have to tell the dealer what color you want and what packages you want, and they will see if they can get one allotted or a dealer swap.
As for the wheels, I don't see any reason you can't swap them, and your best bet will be go aftermarket or look for some take offs around here. Lots of members ditching the stock wheels and tires, so there should be plenty up for sale. Any reason for wanting to drop down to 16?

Just kinda like the look of the 16 inch stock wheels (black or off road)... have 15 inch on my 2008 and don't see a need for such big wheels er the pros/cons for 17 inch wheels... I assume the only issue would be reprogramming the speedometer?

speedometer has nothing to do with wheel size, only tire size. you can find many options for both 16's & 17's around here, most of them 'take offs' which are just the factory wheels selling for cheap. just watch the marketplace forum. they show up daily.

Just so you know that all of the models of the 3rd gen's (not sure of the Pros) come with different size tires. They are 16's, 17's and 18's (limited) size wheels. If you run each size on a tire calculator you will find all of the stock sizes no matter which one you choose are all close in the total tire and wheel diameter.I am guessing that Toyota does this so they can use the same speedometer/odometer specs without having to have 3-4 different dashboard calibrations.
I switched out my 16 sr5 P245 75 16's with P265 65 17's -the result my Speedometer/odometer got more precise. Understand it was not off by much before --but it got better as verified by my Hi-end Garmin.
Enjoy your new Tacoma -- just thought this bit of info may help you

I'd rather have 17" wheels. I did TRD T4R black satin wheels because I like them a lot.

I just bought a '19 TRD Sport 4 x 2. Access Cab, exactly what I wanted. Tech package, loaded.

    YMMV.

I second this. I went to my dealer with the list of all the options I wanted, even though they weren't all available through the "on line builder". It took a few phone calls between the dealership and the factory to get everything I wanted to be packaged together. In the end I got the vehicle I wanted, (the only exception being the swing out bed step). BUT, I did have quite a wait until my vehicle was put into the build schedule. I ordered January 02, 2018 and didn't pickup my new vehicle until May 11, 2018

Not sure if you’re near a big city / lots of different dealerships, but that is a big help. I configured the truck I wanted on the website, then sent that to probably 15 different dealers within 1 hour of me. Told them all I’d consider anything that was reasonably close in any of three colors. Ended up getting almost exactly what I wanted for a great price!

From the forum, I see most OR owners upgrade to 17 in. Personally, I think 17 in compliments the 3g much better than the 16 in. But the dealership might not see a big difference in 1 inch with the wheels, so they may be willing to switch out the 17 for the 16s. I remember reading a guy getting a dealer to get a hood off a Sport onto his OR before purchasing.

Here is what i found in comparison... narrower tire but thicker sidewall... which i think will translate to a smoother ride

Changed up the zip code on the build sheet and found different package options only a few hundred miles away too!

I have heated fabric seats in my ACSP.

It is Super White if the truck color makes a difference.

See theres a $1k rebate on the Tacomas right now and was also for last month... maybe a little slow now might mean a good deal in the near future... any idea on Toyota Finance interest rates for 36mo?

Noticed not really a difference in price between the Sport and Off Road... but only will be OffRoad like 5% of the time... assume the Sport will drive nicer on the road than the Off Road?

Same exact MSRP between Sport and OR, depends what kind of roads you have near you. I personally like the smoother more comfortable ride of the OR on these old rough rural roads.
