Well, it almost works. I underestimated how strong the gas spring needed to be, so it doesn't quite stay up. I also need to figure out the latch to keep it locked down.

I keep my truck at the "forefront" of Maintenance, mostly, so when anything goes wrong with it, I fix it - when I can - or I put it in a shop when it's something I can't fix or am not qualified to fix... Be that because of Tools, Aptitude or Ability.

That said, my truck developed what I call "Labored Breathing" last week, and it got to a point where, as soon as I started to drive, the CEL was not just on, but on and flashing, and I was getting P0304 on my Ultra-Gauge...

The last time that happened, I got P0303, and it was because of a cracked cylinder head. Needless to say, I was not happy to hear that, but Jeff @ ToyConnection hooked me up, and my engine got a new head, a complete valve job, and a new Timing Belt, WP, and set of pulleys... AND he helped me to install my OTRATTW switch in my dash, like it was meant to be there. He charged me $1,800, and a case of Corona.

So, last week... out of no-where, for no particular reason, my truck starts to throw a P0304... Other side of the engine that I had fixed by ToyConnection, and it's Idling rough as shit... exhaust smells sweet, etc. etc. and anytime I get hard on the power, the CEL comes on FLASHING, not just on-constant... and I can feel a massive loss of power.. Fuck... Here we go again. "I'm thinking" - another cracked head. FUCK ME.

This morning, I got the diagnosis - A faulting Injector... Not a cracked head.

ToyConnection's mechanic - Chuck - who was a 20 year Mechanic for Toyota - discovered that not only was injector #4 fouled, but - in fact - all of the injectors on that side of the motor were improperly installed by the Mechanic that did the 120,000 Mile service that I paid for (Handsomely, BTW) at Stevens Creek Toyota.

All three of the Injectors on that side of the engine, their o-rings had ZERO lubrication on them when that tech put them back into the lower intake manifold. They were all folded and rolled back upon themselves. The one on Cylinder #4 had blown thru, and he showed it to me.

The be-all and the end-all of this is.. Jeff, the owner, charged me $300.00 for one injector, and Chuck - his mechanic - changed all three injectors... AND - when I showed up to pay them, with a Case of Corona, I asked them to do a 4-wheel brake-bleed, which they charged me NOTHING for. And they did it.

Whatever your opinion of that shop, the guys that work there, and the Owner - Jeff - is a solid motherfucker, and he has never - once - made me feel like I was ripped off. The wait time, notwithstanding.

So yeah, 1 new injector, 3 o-rings, installed properly by a Toyota-Certified Mechanic, and brake-system bled. $300 at ToyConnection on Comstock Way in Santa Clara.

Only dealt with them once but the was looking for a particular colored hood and the guy spent 30 min with me looking through the entire yard. Didn’t rush me and went out of his way to help me, thought that was cool. Glad you didn’t have to do another rebuild.

Bought an 08 in 09. It was a replacement for my 04 that was stolen.

Good info and even better customer service. Second solid referral I've come across for ToyConnection. Underlying message was be prepared to be patient - its not like a normal shop but the work is top notch and his prices are fair. Next time I find myself in a crap situation beyond my limited ability, I'll consult with Jeff. Thanks.
