Looking for educated opinions on Venomrex wheels PURCHASED

Hello forum.

The mediocrity of the stock wheels on my ’18 sport has finally begun to weigh on me to the point I’m ready to do something about it.

After much travel, through many internets, I’ve landed on the following rim, specifically, due to aesthetics and weight. It seems it’s relatively new to the market, making feedback almost non-existent. So, to the guys that know they’re way around a wheel, I ask.. Is there’s any reason, WHY NOT the following rim.

They’re lug-centric rather than hub, and specifically warn against using rings to make it so.

This, in and of itself doesn’t give me much cause for concern, but I’m interested in any input on the subject. I’ll be running the stock sport size (265/65/17) Nitto Ridge Grapplers that are currently on the truck.

Looks like this will be the outcome, coming off the stock 17” X 7.5” TRD sport rim.

The Venomrex wheels will have an inner rim which is 1.1mm closer to the suspension strut. The outer rim will protrude out 37.1mm more than before (1.46 inches) (I think the latter is about what I’m looking for, and will negate the need for the wheel spacers I’d previously been considering to augment the factory rims)

Also, any reason I should, or should not expect the factory TPMS sensors to work in the wheels?


Gonna pull the trigger on these Monday unless someone scares me off them.

Rims look good. Don’t know anything about them, but they look good. I’d rather have the house in the background!

 

I had then in my cart until I got a deal on pro wheels. Go for them.

Edit: I buy wheels of super high quality or OEM. I'd never cheap in this department. VenomRex wheels have a life time warranty and a super strong forged wheels. Their warranty is 2 years can't go wrong. What initially led me to Venomrex is the local Ford dealer installing them onto Raptors. Check out reviews on raptor forums.

 

If someone hasn't given me a reason not to by tomorrow am, I'm on them.
I like the the look, and I like the fact there aren't many on the street at present.

 

Just do it. They look good. The only thing that scares me (for me to buy them) is that they aren’t hub centric and they advise not to use rings to make them that way. I get that, but if you ever have a problem with the suspension, brakes, and etc., Toyota “could” void the warranty because you altered actual specifications. I could be wrong though.

 

Buy them, I think they look good. They remind me of the 17 Pro wheels.

 

So long as they balance out I'm fine with running the warranty risk, if there is one. The stock rims have little to no value where I'm at, so they'll end up in a corner anyway.

 

Lug nuts/studs are not meant to support the weight of a vehicle, that is the job of the hub. That would bother me.

Find it hard to believe that these aren’t hub centric. I would find out the hub bore spec and see if it’s the same as Tacoma wheels before buying.

The rim will protrude 37mm; the tire will protrude 18mm.

 

Only thing I find odd is that they’re lug centric and they specially advise against using rings. I would at least email them and ask them why. Without them you could have trouble getting the wheels seated properly, introducing vibes

 

Not being able to run a hubcentric spacer would be a deal breaker for me. That really limits the size of tire you can put on these. They do look go though, but I wouldn't buy them if you ever plan on running larger/wider tires or larger flares/fenders since you're going to run into clearance issues with the larger tires and it would look dumb if you couldn't fill out the fenders. It'd be great if they offered like a 0 or -15 offset as that would free up some backspacing.

 

I'm finding conflicting opinions on this. The wording leads me to believe they're lug centric, though.

What I gather from the OP is that they advise not to use hub centric rings, which are thin little plastic rings to fill the gap between the hub and the wheel.

 

That is correct, which is what led me to believe they are likely, lug centric.
(although I've seen a vendor on a Ford forum claiming them to be hub centric)

I'll have the skinny directly in the am if no one can confirm today.

Basically mounting a stock width tire on a rim that is 1.5" wider than oem. 1.5"/2=19mm difference

I think it's a great looking wheel and you'll likely stay unique since they're on the higher end of cost.

 

Just noticed they list the center bore at 87 mm and bolt pattern at 6x135.
Center bore should be 106.1mm and bolt pattern should be 6x139.7.
I think they're showing you a Ford fitment.
