Dorman, surprisingly enough, has a wide selection. I used them on my SAS on the S10 when I upgraded to 9/16 bolts

Anyone done a temporary fix for a torn cv boot? Found a tear in mine and put marine sealant on it, not sure if it'll make it the whole week until my new boots come in

Yea I'm paranoid now that I'll have to replace the whole assembly. It had to have happened in the last week so hopefully no permanent damage. No way to tell if the sealant worked until I drive it.

I have the option to steal my wife's car for a few days, but when she works I'll have to take the truck

Half of the campus has off tomorrow, the other half works. It's a weird thing with some folks employed by Greenwood (mostly factory folks), the other half by New York/Tokyo (mostly admin type folks).

Yup...and it held better than an OEM toyota replacement boot. Ended up just swapping out the whole CV for a new OEM because the boot kept slipping and slinging grease.

Damn you sealed the hell out of that thing! Maybe I'll do another coat on mine. I ordered those SDHQ boots, reviews look good on them

Used an inner tube self adhesive patch over the hole then multiple coats of pliable rubber cement. Under all that was a small puncture that never leaked a bit after the repair.

Using a patch is a solid idea. Since I've already slapped sealant on there I might cut up one of my old mtb tubes and ziptie over it

Split boots exist for this very reason, and are often used long term.

Great thinking outside the box. I'd never have thought to use an inner tube patch.

Hmm I almost picked one of those up today, but read a lot of complaints on here about them. I'm just trying to make it a week so I probably should've tried it

Weird. Don’t usually here too many people complain about rust except on older vehicles.
