Best state to register vehicle as non-resident?

In Pennsylvania, annual "registration" fee for Ram 5500 is $473. Is there state that I can register truck as non-resident for lower fee?

I have registered trailer in Connecticut for much less hassle, can you suggest state that I can use for truck?

(In PA fee is based on GVWR, for taco it's $86.)

 

Is that for one or two years? I paid $129 to register my 2nd Gen RC 5-lug for two years!

 

I would look into South Dakota, only based on experience with off road motorcycles.

You right, for 5 lug taco it's $124 for 2 years on this chart. Looks like it's dated by $2 based on your experience.

VA just got done going after ones who do this and under my current insurance policy my vehicle if registered in another State must be changed over in 30 days for coverage to be in effect if being garaged and or parked in a different State...

 

Check with your insurance company first. Usually that'll limit your options.

 

I know Vermont does.
