Which would then raise the question, why did it go from wood to gas?

Ugly ass gas insert ripped out, reframed, and installed a linear gas. House was originally gas and previous owner decided an insert was okay vs actually replacing the old one. Thing was ugly as hell and stuck out like 10" from the wall.
We also hated the brick and built-in "bookshelves", they were about 2 feet deep so you'd need some really big books to fit in there o_O

Ask @Stig about the fucking wall of bricks underneath almost that entire wall...it was definitely a fun day to tear your house apart the day after getting the keys :D

Im in Erie, you can borrow a jack and jack stands if need be. I could even clean out part of the garage to make it easier for you.

Hm, I may ask for a favor when it's time to put in the AAL to my truck. An hour drive round trip probably won't save me time from just using the bottle jack out front of my place just to swap tires.

Not sure what part of the republic of Boulder you are in, but if it takes you an hour round trip... try the peddle on the right.
