So here is the summary. Had Icon 3 inch lift kit put on. Looks great. Ordered New Wheel - Method 309 (17x8 5.5x150 4.75"BS). Ordered Wildpeak 285/70/r17s.

Mechanic shows me they are hitting a metal frame extrusion. Send tires back and get Wildpeak 265/70/r17. They don't fit for the same reason. Rubbing big time.

I am actually stuck with the stock tire size? Am I missing something here?

it's the wheels causing the rubbing with 265/70/r17.I used oem wheels for the proper back spacing.

So It sounds like the backspacing on the method wheels is not correctly sized. Am I screwed with these wheels or can I use spacer to get where I need to be?

I am not a fan of wheel spacers nor do I know if they would help.Someone more knowledgeable will hopefully join in.

No spacers would make the problem worse. What you need to do if you want to use those wheels is either get an alignment and max out your castor to move the wheel forward in the wheel well. If you can’t do that enough to clear the cab mount, then you need to do a cab mount chop. This involves cutting the cab mount and having a plate welded in for more tire clearance. It’s a very very common thing to do and if you search it’s all over this site.

Because you have all that backspacing BS. I’ve never rubbed and have gone up to 265/75/16, 255/75/17.

Stick to stock spacing or get wheels that only space out a tiny bit and balance well (like Pro wheels, etc).

Also get your camber, caster and toe adjusted with UCAs to avoid this easier

It sounds like I cannot use those wheels regardless of tires size because of the back spacing issue with chopping the cab mount. So even 265/70/r17 wouldn't fit

Can you elaborate more on where they are rubbing at, is it on the cab mount, or the A-arm, or somewhere else? Is it when the wheels are straight or turned? I have a Icon kit with Method wheels with the same BS and running 285/75/16's. Mine do not rub anywhere. If your wheels are not correct method with replace them. You can always put your wheel face down, put a straight edge on the wheel and measure from the straight edge to where the wheel mount to the hub. If it's not 4.75" then contact method. If it is not the wheels then it could be the alignment.

I have 285/75/16 with wheels that have 4.5 backspace and I don't rub even when I offroad. What you have to do it max out the caster so it pushes the wheels forward. I think I'm at almost 4 degree in caster.

You can likey keep the wheels just get your caster moved forward to 3-4 degrees
