Did some camper waterproofing.

    I left the factory weatherstripping on it but now I wish I'd of removed it. It's now too thick on the front of the camper, under the front window area.
    First I removed the bed caps & made a thick bead of 100% silicone the length of the bed.

    After installing the cap, I did a bead @ the front of the cap. If I were to do this again, I'd of done it under the cap but it's almost invisible w/the camper on. 0EDBACB0-6564-44DF-B3EF-A08D926A271C.jpg
    Then I installed new weatherstripping along the sides. I got this @ Home Depot for $6 for 17'.

    Then I installed a really thick front gasket on the front. After installing, this stuff is too thick & the shell can't go down enough to sit properly. I'll have to lift the camper up & cut half of the thickness off.

    I’m going to have to do the same thing as mine gets water in it worse than my oem cover did!!

    This in on the list for summer work. :thumbsup:
    Was going to use a thick gasket up front, as I think that is where the water is coming in from.

    It was easy. A rivet type push clip, one on the inside of each 4 corners, then it pops up and out. I wouldn’t try to do it if it is really cold, though. I’d recommend 50+ degrees. The warmer the better.

    Nice thread. I just picked up a cap yesterday and it needs new gaskets and stripping all around. (Along with a thorough scrubbing. It’s been sitting flat in a back yard for 6 months)

    It has the big gap up front so maybe that thicker front rail seal will fix it.

    I think it’s a 2006 cap going on a 2014.

    The front gasket I used was a little too thick. Try to find one slightly lower profile.
