We walked the beach near Destin FL last week. Chilly but sunny. Forgot sunscreen and got pink. Fun area to explore in the off season. Lots of local grouper to eat too.

Sorry about the loss of your friend/neighbor.

    Mountains of WNC.
We woke up to 5.7° F this morning. Wood stove working well, it only got into the upper 50s in the cabin. Opened the damper, got a few fresh pieces in and then .... toasty setting in front of the stove for coffee with my wife. It does not get any better than that.

I walked thru the snow with my dog, watching him sniff everything, running all about.
Before I retired, dreamed about going to areas a little warmer, but don't know what I would do for entertainment, meals. Hope this summer to travel some and camp out mostly for a few weeks or longer.
How about those two O/T NFL playoff games on Sunday? Crazy game in the 4th quarter with the Pat's and Chiefs.

The one that got me was the blown call on the pass interference against the Rams, that call cost the Saints a trip to the super bowl. It's not like it was a questionable call or inconclusive, it was a blatant wide open PI call that was missed somehow.

Yeah, 40s, I got a text from a friend in Tampa after I told him it was 5.7° F here. They have a cabin near us .. empty nearly all winter. They will be back in spring. :)

Sorry Mark. RIP to your friend/neighbor.

    welcome

 RIP officers. Prayers for your families.

I'd so love to get a small pot belly stove instead of the ventless gas thing I have.

    Happy MLK day all

Our stove is huge. It can take wood pieces 24 inches long. A couple years ago I replace the jury-rigged blower for a factory blower. Nice hot air blowing out the vents. Hot iron, warm cabin.

@cheech1 Is Cisco's Cantina still there in Kailua? I ate there on a short trip many years ago. The chili relleno rolled my eyes back it was soooo good.

Nope, Cisco's closed awhile ago. I believe the owners retired. Met one of the owners. She had a hell of a time trying to get a liquor license because she had no fingerprints from years as a bartender .

Many years ago I went to an AA convention on Oahu, took almost a week on Maui to hike inside Haleakala Crater, awesome hike, and had dinner one night at Cisco's after lounging on the beach at Kailua. It seemed like more fun, for a short period of time, than all the time I was stationed there in the Navy. I spent too much time drinking in the Navy. :)

    I had my wife's 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander sport inspected yesterday...passed w/flying colors.
It better had because I did my own inspection on it before taking it in.
Not that my inspection means diddly squat:)

I live in a small county in Kalifornia, no inspections or smog checks. Smog checks only required when selling a vehicle.
Local state officials ignoring requirements to have water tested for contamination in the creek flowing thru my property. Another crazy law, no industry upstream of us to pollute. Anyone building out here in the woods have to have a road wide enough for fire equipment to access property.

    Evening all:
Oh boy, this might get interesting!
Not too long ago local police were involved in a high speed chase of a van containing suspects from FL who had stolen bank checks. One of the African American occupants was shot and died, now it has been determined that the shooting was accidental! I just heard from a good source that protesters from all over are planning on converging at the courthouse in Jim Thorpe Pa which is a small town, if any sizable amount of protesters show up there that place will be an absolute mess and local law enforcement will have their hands full.
Lots of small shops lining the main street with big glass windows and lots of goodies on the other side of them, can only hope things don't get out of control!
