    yup, doing the install myself...i've done quite a few HU installs, but this is the first HU install in the Taco. can't wait to pull apart the dash and get to it :D

    lol, i hear ya! i waited a week cause of the freakin' weekend! but man, its totally worth it! kinda funny what a nice hu will do for your audio/video experience! whats your set up gonna be?

    well the HU is the first piece of the puzzle for me...the stock JBL system sounds pretty good as is, so the biggest pain for me was the boring stock HU! after that, looking to up the lows. i used to have 2 12" MTX Jackhammers on 1800 watts in my old 4runner, and this stock 10" just isn't the same! :D

    it was a major PAIN! haha. but now that it's in, i'm a happy camper :D

    it was also nice to spend time with my dad, he and i have opposite work schedules...took some time off to do the install and it just so happened to be his day off too so he helped me out :eek:

    Uh oh... I was moving towards the Z120BT... what was the Debbie Downer about it?? Or are you just really picky about onboard equalizers and crossovers and being a little bit of a Negative Nancy..? Just playin :p For real though what gives?

    Pretty much all the way around. The new Z120BT interface was hard to use. It's beautiful, but it took my input as a tap 90% of the time when I tried to scroll and was just really tough to use. I gave it a month figuring that I'd get the hang of it, but just ended up pissed. Maybe it's just me and my touch.

    The sound quality on the Z120 was not as good as my old Kenwood and now that my 9960 is installed, I can say that it's nowhere near as good. ...and yes, I hated all EQ presets and EQ functions on the Z120. Really liking them right off the bat with the 9960 + 13bands. Also, the crossovers are tied together front/rear on the Z120. Most have better speakers in the front doors than the back, so the crossover will almost always need to be set differently. Having them tied together just seems stupid on a "flagship" model.

    Didn't care for the NAV on the Z120....voice commands didn't work for me either, etc,

    The 9960 isn't perfect, but I definitely think it's the better choice.

    I decided since my phone already has the full gps functionality via telenav and others, I'd pass on this feature. Saved my $600 for something I already had.

    Yes but the 9960 does full on 3D contoured topographical maps and does not need to be in cell phone range to do it. Satallite views are just around the corner for download as well.
