I had a Faux river rock one in my first house I bought...It was in the corner of the living room. I dont know if I have a pic somewhere, I'll have to look. But it was a nice accent to the room.

My dad and I rebuilt our fireplace about 17 years ago. It started out like this.

We added a hearth, covered it in slate cut from 12 x 12 and hand built the mantle. That was before you could go to Home Depot and buy a pre-built one.

    How it looks today.

Having trouble figuout a smooth transition here. Cope the smaller one and not do a return?

Edit: here’s a bigger overall look.

What are your guys’ set ups for your miter saws?

I’m wanting to build a cart on wheels for mine with a small shop vac under it rigged to the vaccum behind the saw blade for better sawdust control.

Just wondering if you guys have any cool set ups that may give me better ideas.

I used liquid nails on mine
    :anonymous:

I’m on a slab. If you are on a sub floor there should be a little metal track that the trim sits in (you can buy this at Home Depot or Lowes). You can drill that track into the floor and then the trim snaps into it.
Have no idea why the track was just laid there.

I glued the little track onto the slab with liquid nails. I did not want to drill into the slab with a mason bit, lay anchors and screw the track into the slab. But you can do that.
Like I said you can buy that little track at your local home improvement store and it should come with the hardware or just get a tub of glue.
