Ditto for both of the Millers I've used. Always specs a 50A plug. Even though max draw is 32A

 

Had a feeling. I’ll replace the cord when the time comes.

Is it acceptable to be using like of those long RV Shore Power cords to plug the welder into? I can only work close to the 240v outlet because of the length.

 

Just overbuild the shit out of an extension yourself. I use waste cuts of the triple conductor 10ga stuff from the homeless depot

Oh yes, that’ll probably be cheaper. Those shore power cords are stupid expensive.

 

It should, my hobart had it spec'd in the book. Available online too. Could always call too. Thats the first thing Ive wouldve done to be honest.

That doesn’t look like it can handle 150 Amps at 240v.

Also there is a reason why fridges cant be pluged into gfci

 

Something about contained moisture and grounding? I know most portable AC units have their own GFCI so I don't know why a fridge couldn't, basically the same device.

 

Looks like I was referring to the wrong part of the manual. It calls for a NEMA 6-50P.

Would I be fine with the 10-50 though? I really don’t want to run a third 240v outlet.

 

Cat in my neighborhood keeps coming to my house all the time for food and water. Thinking it might be a stray at this point. He's super friendly and lets you pet and pick him up so I wouldn't guess it is feral or really even a stray. But he's always outside and always hungry. Wants to get in my house. Maybe I'll put up some signs and see if he is any of my neighbors'. My neighborhood is tiny so I could put one in every doorstep.

 

I think newer ones do. Old ones done. And yeah basically because there is alot of electronics next to water in a fridge

 

Yeah either is fine, I'd think. The 6-50 is common for shop tools like welders the 10-50 is the old ass standard known sometimes as a range plug cause stoves and ovens use them

 

I kinda like having him around but I don't want to steal someone's cat either haha
