He’d have to pay for a full hood at that point, because they are warrantying the hood and use the vin to determine the proper part. Toyota won’t pay for a warranty replacement that doesn’t match the vin.

You’re new hood will be the same minimal amount of adhesive but hey you get a respray. I fixed this myself with 3M NHV so I didn’t have to chance the paint. Good luck

Will snap a few pics tomorrow when its light... Wife went to pick it up and a problem arose.

She got out of the lot about 200ft and grinding, shaking, etc. Her description not mine. She coasted it back into the dealer and they took it right in.

Front passenger hub assembly! So needless to say it was dark before i could examine. Anyone hear of a hub failing so early? I have replaced a few on 100K plus commuter vehicles. This seems quite early.

Same thing happened to my brand new 2019. I noticed the hood flutter literally after signing paperwork and driving it off the lot to take it home for the first time. So instantly called my sales person when I got home and he said to bring it back in. I did the next day. They confirmed that most of my adhesive that holds the hood skin to the cross supports did not fuse properly at the factory.

They instantly offered to give me a new hood, but the whole front clip of the truck would have to be repainted to match as new hoods come from Toyota only in primer (that's what I was told). I told them no way was I going to let them open up the factory paint on a new truck I just bought the day before with 3 miles on it. They then said it would take a few days but they would track down the same truck and have it brought in for me to switch the truck with a damaged hood for an entire new truck. I was shocked they were willing to do that...and more than happy with that being the remedy.

Long story short they delivered. The new replacement truck had a perfect hood. We did the switch in about 15 minutes worth of paper work and I was finally out the door with the new 2019 in perfect shape as it should have been. Little bit of a hassle but the dealership delivered on their promise and took care of me as a customer.

Hope others are getting their fixed or their situation corrected to their satisfaction, but it does look like Toyota is having a bit of an issue with the hoods not fusing correctly to the supports. I am reading more and more about this all the time.
