I use 6-50P on my lathe, mill, & air compressor even though they don't actually call for a 50 amp breaker. My lathe & mill are on the same 30 amp breaker, air compressor on a another breaker. Not up to code exactly but whatever.

 

Is this your first time hearing that??

Lolol, that's just crazy to me man. But I guess it's possible he never had anyone around to even show him the most basic stuff. Reminds me to be damn grateful for my upbringing

 

Shouldn't be trying to work on their own car if they don't know simple basics like that. Reminds me of the 3rd genner who took their drums off for "inspection" then pressed the brake pedal with the drums off cause he wanted to see if they were working & popped the brake cylinders.

 

yeah thats one thing I wish I had gotten more of as a kid - wrenching experience. Got next to none, my dad was great and all but he was a corporate guy and didn't really get into hands on projects at home until I was in high school. And he was a closet smoker so any time he did do stuff he made sure none of us kids were around. Anything I've learned tools, auto or DIY-wise has been on my own (well, with tons of internet help of course).

Well waiting on Z head gaskets (redoing after noticing a mistake I made) so I'm gonna do the suspension. Looks easy enough to take the front struts apart.

 

There was another guy (not a 3rd genner) who replaced his brakes & calipers but didn't know he needed to bleed the brake lines after replacing calipers & was wondering why his brake pedal was so mushy. Luckily he didn't get into an accident. I can understand those not knowing & want to learn to DIY but people like that are putting a danger to themselves & others on the road.
