    I live in Florida, but work offshore Louisiana. I have been pulled over twice in the same town (Golden Meadow LA) for my tint, no tickets, just " you need to get this fixed or you will get a ticket next time bla bla...."

    My question is can they write me a ticket because my Florida tagged truck does not meet Louisiana tint laws? I have never been bothered at all in 20 years of driving in Florida, and don't want to peel it if I don't have to.

    Pretty sure they can give you the ticket and make you fight it either way...But I'm not sure it would be hard to fight as the statue says

    I am pretty sure when you cross over from one jurisdiction to another, you are governed by the jurisdiction where you currently are.

    So yes, you can be help liable for a ticket in another state.

    ^ That makes sense for laws regarding the use of the road (passing lanes, speed laws, etc) but not really for configuration.

    Brines that was my way of thinking. LA has vehicle inspections and FL does not, and I don't have to get inspected everytime I enter the state.

    Our laws read:

    2. No sun-shading or tinting films may be applied or affixed to the front side windows of any motor vehicle operated on the highways of this Commonwealth that reduces total light transmittance of such window to less than fifty percent;

    3. No sun-shading or tinting films shall be applied or affixed to any window of a motor vehicle that has a reflectance of light exceeding twenty percent;

    4. Any person who operates a motor vehicle on the highways of this Commonwealth with sun-shading or tinting films that has a total light transmittance less than that required by subdivisions 1 and 2 of this subsection or a reflectance of light exceeding twenty percent shall be guilty of a traffic infraction but shall not be awarded any demerit points by the Commissioner for the violation;

    Contact the District Attorney's office and explain to the DA or his asst what is going on. Advise him you are Fla legal but are you confused about having to be La legal since you live in fla and only travel "thru" La for business. Get his advice then you 'll have something to present a defense with. There are interstate agreements on alot of car issues. Driver's License being one of them. That would be my advice for a course of action.

    this is the truth

    Honestly, it depends on the cop writing the ticket and how far they want to push it. Being in the military, I have been subject to this first hand.

    Hmmmm in a civil action I agree with you. You are responsible to obey the laws of the jurisdiction in which the accident occurs...butttt if you are driving thru any state other than the state you are licensed in and they have a higher standard for driver's license are you to be held to that standard , therefore rendering your states drivers license as invalid?

    This is a fascinating question....look at what is going on in our court system now with homosexual marriage! If a state such as Ma has legalized gay marriage and Ok says it is a felony to be a homosexual in that state are you saying the marriage is null and void..."LOL" I don't know the answer. Many years ago when I wore a badge and six shooter I know you had to accept the drivers license from other states due to Interstate (not intrastate) agreements and supreme ct. decisions (can't quote any right now)....just my opinion though...I'm probably wrong....

    Google Interstate Drivers license compact and read up on more info there. I'm not a lawyer so I am not able to give legal advice on this subject...I can only give guidance that I think will keep you out of trouble. By the way for shits and grins beware if your car has a fl state tag on it and you have a al drivers license with a la address you can be charged with avoiding taxes....two of the three must match....

    Sure can. Whenever you're driving in another state, you're subject to their laws.

    I go fishing every year in Golden Meadow (probably not anymore, thanks bp) and have got a speeding ticket twice in the past 5 years. Golden Meadow cops suck, and i always see speed traps up there!

    That's because you're not a resident of the state. Residents of the state have to get state inspections to get the vehicle registered in the state. Without the inspection, you can't get the registration. Since you're not seeking to register it in the state, you don't need the inspection.

    You should see the number of State Troopers on LA-1 with all the cleanup going on! I see at least 6 or 8 between Golden Meadow and Grand Isle every week. Not including all the parish deputies. The state must be making a killing from tickets.
