    Hello everyone,

I am trying to run some courtesy lights that function as an extension of my dome lights. when doors are closed to shut them off when walking up to the truck for them to come on. i have been digging through the internet and my truck testing wires but i cant seem to figure it out. If anyone has done such a thing can you send me a link to a video or explain in detail what wire you spliced into to make them work. i wouldn't be upset to run them to the cargo lamp either but again i need to know what color wire to run them from and where the wire is located for my splice point.

    Thank you,

Look up the courtesy light mod in search box. They are lights that go on mirrors. May help with you what wires, you need to tap into. Same function your looking for.

I ran a relay that turns on the under lights whenever the truck bed light comes on. Which is whenever you open the door or use the bed light switch in the cab.

The wire digram posted from another member will show you where you need to tap into. Important to run that tap to a relay then the relay controls the flow of power to the lights.

I have Amp Powersteps that have lights that act just like you are describing... Google the install instructions... They tied into wires in the door sill plates

Yellow wire is ground...tap into the Purple wire of the Cargo Lamp harness...Battery-fuse-Y wires one appropriate to added circuit, the other 18 awg to the 86 pin. 87 pin to your underglows, pin 85 to the purple wire.

    86 - Negative trigger dome
    85 - 12v+ Constant (Battery)
    30 - 12V+ Constant (Battery)
    87 - Output

And a capacitor across the relay coil to eliminate chatter. The negative trigger is a PWM from the computer to dim the dome. If you dont use a capacitor then the contacts will go back and forth causing chatter.

Or sit tight till I get the modules back up and going.

Hopefully you don't buy/use a relay with an internal diode...if you do then 85 is NEG...
