    Are you removing it? The best piece of advice I got was “roll the differential forward” to remove it. An issue that arises is the driveshaft flange getting caught on the transmission bellhousing. Other people would have to remove a motor mount and jack up the engine, but rotating it forward worked like a charm.

    Nope. Tried that. Like I said, it’s on a mounting cushion on the rear that’s a stud so you have to lift it out of the crossmember, and then rotate it forward. Can’t use a jack to install it because of that either.

    Remove and install a Tacoma front differential by yourself and then I’ll be impressed.

    It’s entirely possible with one person. But it would help a lot if you had two.

    I took the front differential out of a 1996 4Runner Limited at Pick-n-Pull for my 4x4 conversion and it took two people. Installing it is equally as difficult from the unusual shape and bulkines.

    It’s not skilled work. All they’re doing is holding a heavy object and turning it forward to remove it.

    I had three people help me install or remove a front diff over the course of my swap, and only one of them had mechanical experience. This is more of a grunt work kind of job.

    It shouldn’t take that long. It’s either Allen or E-Torx can’t remember. I think it’s a larger Allen head. You’ll need to remove that, the vacuum lines, and the front differential mounting cushions. Can’t think if I’m missing anything.
