Bummer. Everyone that has the MT that I’ve met has the OVtune and it makes me want one. But I’ve read that they can’t over ride the auto learning stuff.

it's still evolving, but yeah i hear that. I've been with the tune since it's release and the MT guys are all into it while the autos still seem to be in a fight. but some of the early MT's are hard to get right as well, the early 16's.

That makes sense. I’ve been following them since I got my truck just waiting for them to figure it out. I want one bad haha.

Just want to add. Been driving around a week now with the PC installed. I freaking love it. $$$ well spent. Revs much quicker now making shifting the 5 speed so much more fun. RPMS seem to drop off quicker as well...making speedy shifts easier as you dont have to wait for rpms to come down. Rev matching down shifts is cake now where before it was near impossible to do consistently due to the lag being so slow compared to any other 5 speed I have ever driven and I have driven lots from trucks to race cars. I wish I had gotten it long ago!

cascadetaco Im on my second week with mine and I totally agree with you. V6 AT was a pain in the ass with having to continuously add pedal to keep from shifting to high gears at low speed on every start. It also downshifts on inclines much better with a slight touch of pedal and a one gear downshift instead of having to press the pedal a bunch and having a two gear downshift. Im sure that the OV tune may actually give the engine more power, but the PC has made my truck do exactly what I was needing it to do. I totally recommend it.

I owned a a PC for 6 months. Had a fault with it and decided to sell the replacement PC gave me as I just wasn’t interested in dealing with another faulty one. Just for some background, it gave me a fault code that basically happens when the brake and gas pedal get pushed at the same time. I probably just had a bad unit as I haven’t heard of many of these failing. Here’s my take from a manual owner... I bought the PC to bandaid the issue with the manual’s sluggishness from a dead stop to about 2k rpm. As all the PC does is change the throttle response, it only partially bandaid the issue. What I would recommend to any manual owner looking to improve the sluggishness I described, Toyota now has a TSB that fixes this for the most part (search for this as there is a thread about this). This TSB actually fixes the issue instead of bandaidi it. I’d highly recommend the TSB ECU update for manual owners over the PC. It’s a Toyota update and covered under warranty or you can pay around $45 if you’re out of warranty.

The Pedal Commander is like buying a new motorcycle and the first thing you do is adjust the slop out of the throttle. I love the unit and believe it has merit even once having OV Tune because you can still change the throttle engagement. Good product for these trucks. I have used the PC on a few cars now and make it one of my first mods.

    if so,
    AT or MT?
    OV version?
    PC settings?

    thank you.

Sorry I do not use it with OV Tune. I have used this product with several other vehicles that had flashed ECUs and always preferred the PC to go along with the Tune as well.

I installed one in my 2015 Tacoma TRD Auto and it made a hell of a difference. I think for me, because I have multiple vehicles, going from one with decent throttle response to the Tacoma, felt like I was driving a turd-o-matic. After installing it and getting the setting where I liked it, I enjoy driving the truck much more. It doesn't add power, but I like not having to dip heavily into the throttle just to get the truck down the road. I also had a similar device in my 16 Golf R. It made a huge difference in that car as well, since there was a noticeable dead spot during initial throttle application.

Thats funny I had on on my 2013 Golf R for the same reason. Good device to not only fix the flat spots but also to customize how you want it to feel.

That's cool. I had a JB1 piggyback on that car which made it run like a raped ape, but the throttle was still the same. After the installation of the device, it was all good with no PCM reprogramming.

haha my last car was a R32 that served me well and lived a full life. i had a United Motorsports tune in it but no PC.

i was asking about that because OV is in a new wave of releases, and much of the focus is on throttle response and feel. i actually flashed my truck today with the new 93 MT tune but haven't had a chance to test drive yet.

I use ovtune 93 with my sprintbooster. Sometime on, sometimes off. Even with the refinements of 1.05, the sprintbooster does what its meant yo do and amplifies the throttle, so it can be choppy at times. Regardless, it does help the pedal response, even with ovtune....hopefully custom tunes can address this and wont need the sprintbooster

Run it up thru the steering wheel and leave it in the little empty cubby on the left side of the steering wheel
