I considered going and buying it today, but the truck sold last night. Maybe a fellow forum member picked it up? They got another one in this morning, but then tried to tack some extras on that I don't want. Emails back and forth for most of the day and they finally came back to MSRP, which is what I thought the deal was all along. It's now too late in the day for me to go deal with that.

Dealerships can sure be difficult to deal with. I'll take another day to think about it.

I can get a TRD Off Road Premium for about ~10% off out here as well, though that particular dealer doesn't have the color combination I'm after for an Off Road. I want Cement if I go that route.

Just remember to test drive the actual truck you plan to take home. The random vibrating trucks are still being put out there.

Good callout. I did notice on the white one I test drove that it had a subtle amount upon initial acceleration.

I drove 4 TRD access cabs, all of them had the vibration on acceleration. Once I installed a toytec AAL and 3degree shims it was slightly reduced.

Others may have something else to say about that, I don’t want to derail your thread!!

Here's the RF since you asked:

It's the most silly and impractical car I've ever owned. It's not the fastest by any means, but it's pretty comfortable, I'm getting used to the top down experience and it is insanely fun to drive. 6 speed manual of course, with an Ecutek OVTune and Goodwin Racing exhaust system. Mazda was running a crazy deal over the summer and I got $8,250 off MSRP for a brand new 2018 with .9% financing for 72 months. lol. It was hard to pass it up. My prior car was a 17 Camaro ZL1 A10 and before that was a Shelby GT350. The Miata is more fun and way cheaper to maintain. I can put four tires on this car, versus one on the ZL1. lol

Dude “insanely fun to drive”, all that matters. Good luck on the pro, and saw someone flaming you for trading in, I would take that with a grain of salt especially if you get the tax savings like we do here.

No tax savings in California unfortunately. They like to bend us over every chance they get and then raise our taxes for other things, because this state sucks. We're in the $25-27k range on my truck via email, so that's not too bad for a 2015 with 43k miles on it. The truck is not perfect and I've put about $3k into it since I bought it (TRD Pro suspension, tires, brakes, Husky Liners, TRD Pro grille and surround, etc.).

That’s not bad at all, especially if you can get the PRO without a markup. Good luck!

You’re definitely right about the mazda deal, tried to find a ceramic or snowflake GT, but couldn’t since it was already September. Settled on a manual jet black club non bbs/brembo! :D

Very nice and I like the wheels! I wanted Machine Gray, but the last one I knew of in this area sold. I nearly bought an 18 Club ST Brembo/BBS/Recaro in Machine Gray, but I thought the RF was a safer bet being my first convertible. I love it except above 55 MPH with the top open. The wind noise is a bit much, but ear plugs help. To be honest I was all set for the 2019, but the pricing made me change my mind. After I got the Ecutek tune from OVTune, it got rid of most of my regrets of not getting the improved engine in the 19. :)

The guys at work have picked on me more than once, because it's such a change from what I normally have in the stable. I got "car lashes" installed one day while I was working. That cracked me up when I finally saw it.

This is the best miata/tacoma thread in quite some time. My NC Club:

my 2 cents... your 15 is paid off and will last a long time. If you keep it, that’s a lot of coin in your pocket for any other project you want to get into... I like the new trucks (a lot), but they won’t do anything mine won’t do, so my money is better spent elsewhere. just my humble opinion. Either way man, good luck and don’t look back!

I was in your shoes just about two months ago. Ended up with 19 OR Prem/Tech in Cement for $36700+TTL. Not knocking on the Pro (love it) but couldn't justify $11k for Fox and some minor cosmetics, and colors that don't appeal to me. Yes it will hold better resale value than any other trim but I am not planning on selling it for a while. I already did the SEMA wheels/tires, Westin steps, Roof Racks, Mori fogs and blackout emblems. Waiting on the Pro grille and I am done, and still have $9k in my pocket, and most importantly I have it in the color I love. Maybe TRD Fox shocks down the line (we'll see) but that is definitely it.

Does California give you tax credit on the trade-in value? 27k trade-in would be pretty good. That’s a good retail price in these parts.

Cool Mazda. I sat in one at a car show last year. Looked like a fun car. I have a boring and slow Q60. :)
