I don’t think it’s fair to yourself to beat yourself up because you’re not in a financial place to spend $100+ on someone’s gift. Just my two cents! If they didn’t like their gift they could’ve made a more reasonable wish list.

JMO, but I wouldn't fel bad if you spent $40. The $20 is just a minimum..and like you said if something isn't in your budget there's no shame

Like everyone else is saying, spending $40-50 is plenty. I feel like the majority of the participants didn’t go over $100, especially not me. However, my giftee did have some cheaper stuff on his wishlist which was helpful.
It’s just not reasonable for someone to expect to get something worth $100 in a secret Santa when the minimum is clearly $20.

    Nope...

I wouldn’t feel so bad but I was expecting like a trd coffee mug or a Toyota golf towel.

    I publicly shamed myself.

At least I didn’t stiff my guy. It was several gifts. I should of sent a gift card but... oh well ..

Those that signed up and sent nothing, well..... you’re a bigger dick than me!

As I always say at my part time job when someone calls me an asshole "No, I'm not an asshole. I'm THE asshole. That's A-S-S-H-O-L-E, double underline and 3 exclamation points"

This is basically true - "Today, the baby symbolizes luck and prosperity to whoever finds it in his/her slice of cake. That person is also responsible for purchasing next year's cake, or for throwing the next Mardi Gras party. In some traditions, the finder of the baby is designated "king" or "queen" for the evening." (SAUCE)

So, feel free to tell her how special she is and remind her that she's responsible for next week's kingcake. :D
